Family of Abigail SCOTT (17) & John BRANDON

63. Harrison Scott BRANDON. Born about 1822 in Smith County, Tennessee. At the age of 75, Harrison Scott died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 12 Feb 1897. Buried in Feb 1897 in Sellers Hill Cemetery, Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee. Military: Company G, Seventh Tennessee Cavalry (US).

Harrison Scott Brandon served as a private in Company G, Seventh Tennessee Cavalry, U.S. during the American Civil War (verified by Seventh Cavalry personnel roster). He was captured at Trenton, Tennessee and held at Camp Chase, Ohio. He was discharged in October, 1863.

Harrison Scott Brandon received an invalid pension while living in Kansas in 1890. (#791,765) His "helpless child" received a minor's pension with John R Brandon as guardian. (#651,752) His first wife died in Metropolis, Illinois (when they were refugees during the Civil War) and is buried there.


Harrison Scott first married Nancy GIST (27) , daughter of Christopher GIST Senior (1779-) & Elizabeth Darby WOOD (5) (1783-1843). Born about 1826 in Henderson County, Tennessee. Buried in Metropolis, Illinois.

On 4 Nov 1875 when Amanda J. was 17, she married James W. GROGAN, in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born in 1847.

On 17 Oct 1866 when Harrison Scott was 44, he second married Mary C. WEBB, in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born in 1828.

64. John D. BRANDON. Born on 25 Dec 1828 in Tennessee. Buried in Brandon Cemetery, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1850.

Military: John D. Brandon served as a Corporal in Company G, 7th Tennessee Cavalry (US).

John Brandon and wife, Martha J. Wall, were living in the 9th District, Henderson County, Tennessee, in 1870.

John D Brandon reenlisted into Company G, 2nd Mounted Infantry after his first one year enlistment. He was born Dec 25, 1828. He lived in Illinois for a few months after discharge. His wife Martha was a helpless invalid for 26 years.


On 27 Apr 1853 when John D. was 24, he married Martha E. WALL, daughter of John H. WALL (1811-1901) & Tabitha Talley THOMAS (1811-1883), in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born on 1 Jul 1835 in Virginia. At the age of 68, Martha E. died in Henderson County, Tennessee on 16 Jan 1904. Buried in Jan 1901 in Family Plot, 1/4 mile North of Roans Creek Church, Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1850.

On 6 Jan 1862 when James M. was 26, he married Sarah C. JOHNSON, in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born in 1843. At the age of 32, Sarah C. died in 1875. Buried in 1875 in Blair Cemetery, Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee.

William H. Brandon never married.

iv. Leona. Born in Dec 1870. Resided in 14th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1870.

v. Mattie. Born in 1872 in Carroll County, Tennessee. Buried in Blair Cemetery, Clarksburg, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1920.

Allen Kendred BRANDON. Born on 4 Feb 1838 in Tennessee. At the age of 93, Allen Kendred died on 7 Oct 1931. Buried in Oct 1931 in Christian Chapel Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1850. Resided in 7th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1900. Resided in 7th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1920.

Military: Allen K Brandon is on the rolls of Co G 2nd Tennessee Mounted Infantry. He received an invalid pension in 1890 (#796,936) and Nancy E received a widow's pension in 1931 (#1705,221).


On 2 Dec 1869 when Allen Kendred was 31, he first married Louisa A.E. KENNON, in Carroll County, Tennessee.

On 27 Jan 1878 when Allen Kendred was 39, he second married Nancy Elizabeth KELLY, daughter of Valentine H. BRANDON. Born on 6 Jun 1843 in Tennessee. At the age of 74, Isabella E. died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 8 Apr 1918. Buried in Apr 1918 in Blair Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1850. Resided in 15th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1900.

On 15 Oct 1867 when Isabella E. was 24, she married William A. PRITCHARD, son of Jesse PRITCHARD Senior (1760-1843) & Mary ?, in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born on 9 Jun 1819 in North Carolina. At the age of 73, William A. died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 1 Dec 1892. Buried in Dec 1892 in Blair Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1860. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1880.
