Family of Robert GRIGGS (1) & Susannah CASH

2. William GRIGGS. Born in 1785 in North Carolina. William died in Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in District 9, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1860.

On 20 Aug 1809 when William was 24, he married Eliza BINGHAM, in Hancock County, Georgia. Born in 1795 in Georgia. Resided in District 9, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1860.

They had the following children:
5 i. Elkins G. (1810-1896)
6 ii. Ailey (1811-)
7 iii. Joyce Ann (1814-1865)
8 iv. Barney Franklin (1829-)

3. Elkins GRIGGS. Born in 1796 in North Carolina. Buried in Foster Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.

In Aug 1820 when Elkins was 24, he first married Lucy DRAKE, daughter of Epiphroditus DRAKE (1760-) & Susannah BARKSDALE (1770-1863), in Hancock County, Georgia. Born on 15 Jul 1801 in Hancock County, Georgia. At the age of 62, Lucy died in Henderson County, Tennessee on 18 Aug 1863.

They had the following children:
9 i. Tom Lunn (1827-1910)
10 ii. Elmira (1830-)
11 iii. Joseph John (1833-)
12 iv. Fredonia Elizabeth (1846-1911)

Elkins second married Priscilla ?.

They had the following children:
i. William. Born in 1867 in Tennessee. Resided in District 9, Decatur County, Tennessee in 1880.

ii. Lorenza A.. Born in 1872 in Tennessee. Resided in District 9, Decatur County, Tennessee in 1880.

4. Lee GRIGGS. Born in 1788 in Granville County, North Carolina. At the age of 82, Lee died in Henderson County, Tennessee in 1870.

On 14 Jul 1814 when Lee was 26, he married Agatha SYKES, in Sparta, Hancock County, Georgia. Born in 1790 in Granville County, North Carolina.

They had the following children:
i. Ann. Born in 1824 in Sparta, Hancock County, Georgia.

ii. Emily. Born in 1827 in Sparta, Hancock County, Georgia.

iii. Lee Roy. Born in 1829 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 55, Lee Roy died in Hot Springs, Arkansas in 1884.

Military: Leroy Griggs was a veteran of the War of 1812. He was on the staff of Colonel Miller who took part in the memorable charge of Lundy's Lane.

Lee Roy married Agnes J. SYKES.

14 iv. Alford (1833-1916)
v. Agnes. Born in 1836 in Lexington, Henderson County, Tennessee.
