654. Rice E. MILAM. Born in 1897 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 68, Rice E. died in Clarksburg,, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1965. Buried in 1965 in Sellers Hill Cemetery, Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee. Occupation: Farmer. Cause of death: Cancer.

On 16 Dec 1917 when Rice E. was 20, he married Tweedie Mae THOMPSON, in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born in 1897. Religion: Clarksburg Church of Christ, Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee.

655. Lora Jane MILAM. Born in 1899 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 63, Lora Jane died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 1 Jun 1962. Buried in Jun 1962 in Carroll County Memorial Gardens, Carroll County, Tennessee. Cause of death: Cancer.

Obituary: Mrs. Lora Jane Pendergrass, 63, died at her home on the Buena Vista Road Monday at 2 a.m. following a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p. m. at the Huntingdon Church of Christ with B. F. Haynie and Hubert Dill officiating. Burial followed in Carroll Memorial Gardens with Dilday Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Paul Sanders, Jimmie Hood, B. C. Hilliard, Loyd Milam, Wallace Milam and Clyde Milam. Mrs. Pendergrass was the daughter of R. F. and Maggie Hood Milam. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors are her husband, Priest Pendergrass; three sons, Joe Pendergrass of Nashville, James Pendergrass of Huntsville, Ala., and Tommy Pendergrass of Huntingdon; seven grand children; her mother, Mrs. Fate Milam; five brothers, Rice Milam and Eldon Milam both of Yuma, Arthur Milam of Memphis, Ruse Milam of Florida and Jesse Ray Milam of California; and two sisters, Mrs. Daniel Kirby of Huntingdon and Mrs. Virgil Roberts of McKenzie.


On 15 Dec 1915 when Lora Jane was 16, she married J. Priestly PENDERGRASS, son of James Steven PENDERGRASS (1860-1943) & Martha Jane RIGSBY (1860-1937). Born in 1890 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 80, J. Priestly died in Madison County, Tennessee on 4 Dec 1970. Buried in 1970 in Carroll County Memorial Gardens, Carroll County, Tennessee. Occupation: Carpenter. Religion: Church of Christ.

Obituary: J. Priest Pendergrass, 79, Carpenter, died December 4, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Services were at 1 p.m. December 5 at Huntingdon Church of Christ. Bro. W.M. Jackson officiated. Burial was in Carroll County Memorial Gardens. Dilday Funeral Home had charge. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Patterson Pendergrass; three sons, Tommy Pendergrass of Huntingdon, Joe Pendergrass of Nashville and James L. Pendergrass of Clarksburg; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Brandon and Mrs. Flora Rainey of Clarksburg; three step-sons, Homer Forrest of Terry Community, Hulon Forrest of Trezevant, and Ray Forrest of Huntingdon; one step-daughter, Mrs. Jamie White of Huntingdon.

They had the following children:

656. Mattie MILAM. Born in 1906 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 65, Mattie died in Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee in May 1971. Buried in May 1971 in Prospect Cemetery, Hollow Rock, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee. Cause of death: Killed by tornado which struck Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee, in May 1971.

In 1923 when Mattie was 17, she married Daniel KIRBY, son of Jacob A. KIRBY (1857-1938) & Arena Frances KEE (1860-1938), in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born around 1900. Buried in Prospect Cemetery, Hollow Rock, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1910.

They had one child:
i. Butonne.


657. Eldon MILAM. Born on 7 Oct 1911 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 78, Eldon died in Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee on 3 Nov 1989. Buried in Nov 1989 in Sellers Hill Cemetery, Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1930. Cause of death: Brain tumor.

Eldon first married Annie Sue WILES, daughter of Lucian Young WILES (1879-1949) & Ada DOUGLAS (1888-1937). Born on 14 Aug 1910 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 60, Annie Sue died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 28 Sep 1970. Buried in Sep 1970 in Sellers Hill Cemetery, Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in First District, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1930. Cause of death: Cancer.

They had one child:
i. Wallace. Alias/AKA: "Chubby".


Eldon second married Bonnie Dee HILL, daughter of Albert Gabriel HILL (1878-1915) & Sula A. DODD (1882-1915). Born on 5 Oct 1912 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 70, Bonnie Dee died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 16 Aug 1983. Buried in Aug 1983 in New Hope Cemetery, Yuma, Carroll County, Tennessee.

658. Ruth Ella MILAM. Born on 12 Sep 1917 in Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 83, Ruth Ella died in McKenzie, Carroll County, Tennessee on 26 May 2001. Buried in May 2001 in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, McKenzie, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1930.

Obituary: Ruth E. Roberts, 84, of McKenzie, died Saturday, May 26, at Methodist Hospital. Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Brummitt Funeral Home. Bobby Mann officiated. Burial followed in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Mrs. Roberts, the daughter of the late Rufus Milam and Maggie Hood Milan, was born September 12, 1917, in Clarksburg. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in McKenzie. She was married to Virgil Roberts, who preceded her in death. She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Roberts of Huntingdon; three sons, Joe Roberts and Bobby Roberts, both of Gleason, and Donald Roberts of McKenzie; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Ruth Ella married Virgil ROBERTS.

They had the following children:
i. Sandra Kay. Born on 1 Apr 1948 in McKenzie, Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 53, Sandra Kay died in Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee on 9 Nov 2001. Buried in Nov 2001 in Mount Olivet Cemetery, McKenzie, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee in May 2001.

Obituary: Sandra Kay Roberts, 53, of McKenzie, died Friday night, November 9, at Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 11, at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie. Bro. Bobby Mann officiated. Burial followed in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Ms. Roberts, the daughter of the late Virgil Roberts and Rutha Ella Roberts was born April 1, 1948, in McKenzie. She was a retired bank teller and a member of McKenzie Church of Christ. She is survived by three brothers, Joe Roberts and Bobby Roberts, both of Gleason, and Donald Roberts of McKenzie.

ii. Joe. Resided in Gleason, Weakley County, Tennessee in May 2001.

iii. Bobby. Resided in Gleason, Weakley County, Tennessee in May 2001.

iv. Donald. Resided in McKenzie, Carroll County, Tennessee in May 2001.
