Pendergrass, 83, of Cedar Grove, died May 22, 1996, at Gibson General Hospital of a stroke. Services were held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, May 24, 1996, at Karnes Chapel in Rutherford. Burial followed at Pisgah Cemetery near Atwood. Bro. Hobert Walker officiated. Born in Cedar Grove and residing in Rutherford, he was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and an Inventor and Supervisor for Kellwood Mfg. Co. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Flora Pendergrass. He is survived by his wife, Hattie Hanks Pendergrass of Rutherford; step-daughter, Carrie Black of Rutherford; step-son, Barry Black of Jackson and one step-grandchild. He is also survived by two brothers, James Pendergrass and L.R. Pendergrass, both of Huntingdon and three sisters, Ollita Kelley, Lois Boumgarner [Baumgardner] and Flossie Meals all of Huntingdon. Karnes and Son of Rutherford was in charge of arrangements. Cause of Death: Stroke. John Henry first married Flora Mae BRYANT. John Henry second married Hattie HANKS. Hattie died in Milan, Gibson County, Tennessee in Apr 2001. Buried in Apr 2001 in Rutherford Cemetery, Rutherford, Gibson County, Tennessee. Obituary: Services for Hattie Black Pendergrass, 76, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Rutherford Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the Rutherford Cemetery. Mrs. Pendergrass, a retired office clerk for Kellwood Co., died Saturday at Milan General Hospital of heart failure. She was preceded in death by her husbands, William Wilson Black and Henry Pendergrass. She is survived by a daughter and a son, Carrie Black of Rutherford and Barry Black of Jackson; and a brother, Junior Hanks of Mason Hall. They had the following children:
