259. William Benjamin SCOTT. Born on 8 Oct 1902 in Poplar Springs Community, Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 97, William Benjamin died in Camden, Benton County, Tennessee on 19 May 2000. Buried on 22 May 2000 in Sellers Hill Cemetery, Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Obituary: William Benjamin Scott, 97, of Clarksburg, died Friday, May 19, at the Camden General Hospital. Services were held on Monday, May 22, at the Clarksburg Church of Christ. Burial followed in the Sellers Hill Cemetery. Brothers Harold Scott and Eric Lyons officiated. Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Scott, the son of the late William Monroe and Mary Francis Phillips Scott, was born October 8, 1902, in Poplar Springs. He attended school at Poplar Springs, Williams Chapel, Lowder and Clarksburg. He graduated from Bethel College in McKenzie and taught schools at Concord, Shiloh, Anark and Hilliard in the early 1920s. He married Letha Laycook on August 2, 1924 and moved to Old Hickory, where he worked for the DuPont Company for 48 years, returning to Clarksburg in 1979 after his retirement. He was preceded in death by his wife, Letha Laycook Scott; and a grandson, Gray Scott; and a great-grandson, Peter Kramar. He was a member of the Church of Christ from his youth and served as an elder for the Church of Christ in Old Hickory. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William W. and Wilma Woolsey Scott of Gulf Shores, Alabama; a son and daughter-in-law, Harold L. and Mary Nicholas Scott of Oak Ridge; a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Edward Holley of Austin, Texas; seven grandchildren, Elaine Scott of Mobile, Alabama, Wayne Scott of Chattanooga, Neil Scott of Huntsville, Alabama, Linda Trevathan of St. Louis, Missouri, Sara Camp of Nashville, Joyce Kramar of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Edward Holley III, of Seattle, Washington; and nine great-grandchildren.

On 2 Aug 1924 when William Benjamin was 21, he married Letha Adel LAYCOOK, daughter of Henry Lafayette LAYCOOK (1876-1925) & Frances Elizabeth ROARK (1878-1942). Born on 27 Feb 1906 in Midway, Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 86, Letha Adel died on 27 May 1992. Buried in May 1992 in Sellers Hill Cemetery, Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee.

260. William Monroe SCOTT Junior. Born on 27 Oct 1910. At the age of 91, William Monroe died on 23 Aug 2002. Buried in Aug 2002 in Sellers Hill Cemetery, Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in Goodlettsville, Tennessee.

On 26 Apr 1934 when William Monroe was 23, he married Mary Ellen RHODES, daughter of Franklin RHODES (1874-) & Elizabeth FULLER. Born in 1908. At the age of 93, Mary Ellen died in Hendersonville, Tennessee on 26 Feb 2001. Buried on 1 Mar 2001 in Sellers Hill Cemetery, Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Obituary: Mary Ellen Scott, 93, of Hendersonville, died Monday, February 26. She is survived by her husband, Monroe Scott, Jr.; a son, Larry W. (Arelene) Scott; a daughter, Judy (Randall) McCadams; two grandchildren, Dwaine C. (Lynne) Scott and Jennifer Leigh Kelly; a step-grandchild, Jan (Clay) Travis; and a great-grandchild, Luca Travis. Services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 1, at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home. Bro. Harold Scott and Bro. Sellers Crane officiated. Burial followed in at Sellers Hill Cemetery in Clarksburg. Family and friends served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the Faith and Works Class of Rivergate Church of Christ. Memorials may be made to Rivergate Church of Christ, 201 Alta Loma Rd., Madison, Tennessee 37115.

They had the following children:

Judy married Randall McCADAMS.

iii. Infant. Born on 16 Mar 1942. Infant died on 16 Mar 1942.
