On 4 Sep 1904 when Flossie Bishop was 21, she married Addison Monroe HOOD (311) , son of Wylie Allen HOOD (1832-1908) & Mary Jane SCOTT (138) (1845-1916). Born on 1 Apr 1877 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 80, Addison Monroe died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 5 Nov 1957. Buried in Nov 1957 in Palmer Shelter Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 7th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1900.

Occupation: Farmer. Alias/AKA: "Charlie".

Obituary: Services for Charles Miller Pendergrass, 78, farmer of the Leach Community, was held at 2 p.m. August 29, at the Christian Chapel Church of Christ. Burial was in the church cemetery. The body was at the home. Pendergrass died Friday night, August 27, at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Eddie Montgomery Pendergrass; three sons, J.H., Rutherford, Tenn.; James and Larry Pendergrass, Huntingdon; three daughters, Mrs. Arthur Fuller, Mrs. Charles Meals, and Mrs. Dwayne Kelly of Huntingdon; three brothers, Harrison and Frank, Clarksburg, Tenn., and Bill Pendergrass of Atwood; three sisters, Mrs. Jessie Boyd, and Mrs. A.D. Hood, Atwood, and Mrs. Cleve Rosser, Clarksburg, Tenn.; and 16 grandchildren.

In 1911 when Charles Miller was 25, he first married Ruby KIRBY, daughter of Henry KIRBY (1861-), in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born in 1893. Buried in Palestine Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Charles Miller second married Eddie Lucille MONTGOMERY, daughter of John B. MONTGOMERY (1867-) & Flora UTLEY (1872-1925). Born on 18 Jan 1900. At the age of 91, Eddie Lucille died in Huntingdon, Tennessee on 2 Oct 1991. Buried in Oct 1991 in Christian Chapel Church of Christ Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Religion: Christian Chapel Church of Christ, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Obituary: Mrs. Eddie Lucille Pendergrass, 91, of Cedar Grove, died Wednesday, October 2, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, October 4, at Christian Chapel Church of Christ. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Brother John Reed officiated. Mrs. Pendergrass, the daughter of the late John and Flora Utley Montgomery, was born January 8, 1900, in Carroll County. She was the widow of Charlie Pendergrass, who died in 1965, and a member of the Christian Chapel Church of Christ. Preceded in death by a son, Larry Wayne Pendergrass, who died July 4, 1991, Mrs. Pendergrass is survived by three daughters, Lois Fuller of Huntingdon, Ollita Kelly and Flossie Meals, both of Cedar Grove; three sons, Henry Pendergrass of Rutherford, James A. Pendergrass and L.R. Pendergrass, both of Huntingdon. She also leaves eighteen grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Pallbearers who served were Doyle Kelly, Dean Kelly, Steve Pendergrass, Keith Pendergrass, Jeff Fuller, Jimmy Fuller, Ricky Meals, and Anthony Pendergrass. Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Frank A. was a World War I veteran - served in France.

Obituary: Frank A. Pendergrass, a retired farmer of Clarksburg, died March 3,1972, at his home. Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. March 5 at the Church of Christ in Clarksburg with L. D. Willis and Jerry Gross officiating. Burial was in New Liberty Cemetery with Lyndol Baumgardner, Jimmy Baumgardner, Keith Baumgardner, Mitchell W. Spain, Gordon Pendergrass, and Bob Allen serving as pallbearers. Mr. Pendergrass was a member of the Church of Christ and a World War I veteran. He was the son of the late John and Bettie Brandon Pendergrass. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bertha Burns Pendergrass; a son, Duncan Pendergrass of Ooltewah, Tenn.; two daughters, Mrs. James Baumgardner of Paducah, Ky., and Mrs. Mitchell Spain of Jackson, Tenn.; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers, Bill Pendergrass of Atwood and Harrison Pendergrass of Clarksburg; and two sisters, Mrs. Jesse Boyd of Huntingdon and Mrs. Cleavie Rosser of Clarksburg. Dilday Funeral Home had charge of arrangements

MONTGOMERY (1867-) & Martha Josie MURPHY (1875-1896), in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born on 19 Nov 1893. At the age of 55, Nova J. died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 23 Nov 1948. Buried in 1948 in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Obituary: The widow of Frank A. Pendergrass, Mrs. Bertha Burns Morgan Pendergrass, died Monday at Intri-Care Nursing Home, Jackson. Services were at Church of Christ, Clarksburg, Tuesday at 2 p.m. conducted by L.D. Willis and Clifford Lyons, ministers. Burial was in New Liberty Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lindell Baumgardner, Keith Baumgardner, Jimmy Baumgardner, Johnny B. Baumgardner, Willie Howard Baumgardner, Dwayne Baumgardner and Mickey Spain. Mrs. Pendergrass was a member of the Church of Christ. Her parents were W.A. Burns and Amanda Ballard Burns. She was first married to Jake J. Morgan who died Feb. 27, 1947. After his death, she was married to Frank Pendergrass, who died in 1972. She leaves three step-children, Duncan Pendergrass, Thelma Baumgardner and Arlene Spain and nieces and nephews and step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.


188. Harrison Alvin PENDERGRASS. Born on 16 Aug 1894 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 90, Harrison Alvin died in Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee on 15 Mar 1985. Buried in Mar 1985 in Sellers Hill Cemetery, Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1930. Occupation: Farmer. Religion: Clarksburg Church of Christ, Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Military: Harrison Alvin served in World War I in the artillery branch.

Obituary: Services for Harrison Pendergrass, 90, were Sunday at Clarksburg Church of Christ with Bro. Don Turnmire officiating. Burial was in Sellers Cemetery with Dilday Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Pendergrass died last Friday morning at Care Inn Nursing Home in Huntingdon after a long illness. He was a member of the Clarksburg Church of Christ for more than 35 years. Surviving are two sons, Grover Pendergrass of Huntingdon and Gordon Pendergrass of Dallas, Tx.; four daughters, Mrs. Mildred Ledsinger and Mrs. Sylvia Brandon both of Huntingdon, Mrs. Betty Pullie of Maple Heights, Ohio, and Mrs. Marie Hilliard of Macon, Ga; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

In Dec 1919 when Harrison Alvin was 25, he married Ruth Iona DILL (244) , daughter of Thomas Ellwood DILL (1867-1934) & Leonia Haseltine SCOTT (117) (1870-1964). Born on 17 Nov 1897 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 54, Ruth Iona died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 20 Jan 1952. Buried in Jan 1952 in Sellers Hill Cemetery, Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1930.

Gaylon Kathleen. Born on 1 Apr 1922 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 60, Gaylon Kathleen died in Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee on 13 Oct 1982. Buried in Oct 1982 in Sellers Hill Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1930. Religion: Clarksburg Church of Christ, Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Obituary: Services for Miss Gaylon Kathleen Pendergrass, 60, of Huntingdon, were at 4:30 p.m. October 14 at Clarksburg Church of Christ with Minister Ivie Powell officiating. Obituary: John William (Bill) Pendergrass, 79, retired merchant of Atwood, died January 6, 1979, at Madison General Hospital in Jackson. Funeral services were held January 8, at 2 p.m. at Palmer Shelter Church with Bro. Greer of Camden officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Dilday Funeral Home was in charge. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lillie Gurley Pendergrass of Atwood; a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Townsend of Atwood; a son, Carl Walden Pendergrass of Huntingdon; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; one brother, H.A. Pendergrass of Clarksburg and one sister, Mrs. Mandy Boyd of Huntingdon. Mr. Pendergrass was the son of John Pendergrass and Bettie Brandon Pendergrass.

On 3 May 1924 when John William was 23, he married Lillie Izora GURLEY, daughter of Vinson Ross GURLEY (1867-1954) & Sara Jane ALEXANDER (1870-1938). Born on 7 Sep 1906. At the age of 89, Lillie Izora died in Huntingdon, Tennessee on 18 Aug 1996. Buried in 1996 in Palmer Shelter Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Religion: Baptist. Alias/AKA: 'Izora".

Obituary: Mrs. Lily Pendergrass, 89, of Atwood, died Sunday, August 18, at the Hillhaven Convalescent Center. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, August 20, at Dilday Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Palmer Shelter Cemetery. Brother Mark Bearheart officiated. Mrs. Pendergrass, the daughter of the late Vinson and Sara Jane Gurley, was born September 7, 1906. She was the widow of J.W. (Bill) Pendergrass, was a retired Store Merchant and a member of the Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Virginia Roberts, of Atwood, one son, Carl Waldon Pendergrass, of Trezevant, and a sister, Ruth Williamson, of Shreveport, La. She also leaves nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers who served were James (Mutt) Pendergrass, Odell Gurley, Oran Ray Gurley, Franklin Boyd, James Rosser and Otis Gurley. Dilday Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
