526. Billy Ray EDWARDS. Born in 1931 in Yuma, Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 74, Billy Ray died in Leesville, Louisiana on 15 May 2005. Buried on 20 May 2005 in New Hope Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee in Jun 2002.

Obituary: LEESVILLE, LOUISIANA: Services for retired Lt. Col. Billy Ray Edwards, 74, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 20, at Chase Funeral Home with Rev. John D. Small. Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery in Yuma. Mr. Edwards, formerly of Yuma, died Sunday, May 15, at his residence in Leesville, Louisiana. He retired from the United States Army as a lieutenant colonel after 24 years of service, including duty in Korea and Vietnam. Military medals and commendations include the Purple Heart, Silver Star, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Armed Forces Honor Medal, four Overseas Service Bars, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Parchutist Badge, Commendation Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korea Service Medal, Army of Occupation Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He retired from the Tennessee Department of Employment Security after 30 years. Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer Rushworth of Leesville, Louisiana, and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Paul James Edwards, and his parents, Floyd Edwards and Evojean Bolen Edwards.
