Family of Hardy SELLERS (1) & ?

2. John SELLERS. Born on 19 Jun 1782 in South Carolina. At the age of 61, John died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 22 Jan 1844. Buried in Jan 1844 in Sellers Hill Cemetery, Clarksburg, Carroll County, Tennessee.

John Sellers was born June 19, 1772, probably in South Carolina. He moved to Carroll County in the late 1820s. He bought land around what is now Sellers Hill, just north of Clarksburg on Highway 22. He died on January 22, 1844 and is buried in the Sellers family plot on the old farm. The cemetery became a public burial place when his son, William R., deeded the land for a public cemetery just after the Civil War.


John married Henrietta NORWOOD. Born on 4 Nov 1784 in North Carolina. At the age of 81, Henrietta died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 24 Jul 1866. Buried in 1866 in Sellers Hill Cemetery, Clarksburg, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1850.

They had the following children:

4 ii. Catherine (1806-1855)
iii. Mary. Born in 1807 in South Carolina. Resided in 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1850.

5 iv. Candace (1808-1896)
v. Martha. Born in 1812 in South Carolina. At the age of 58, Martha died after 1870. Resided in House # 1653, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1850.
