Family of John Thomas SEGRAVES (17) & Addie V. CARY

81. Martin L. SEGRAVES. Born on 23 Feb 1901. At the age of 70, Martin L. died in Sikeston, Scott County, Missouri in Feb 1972. Resided in 14th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1920.

On 23 May 1920 when Martin L. was 19, he married Lela ALLEN, in Carroll County, Tennessee.

They had the following children:
i. Marie.

Marie married Bill CHANEY.

ii. Clifton.

iii. Bernie.

iv. Edith.

v. Leota.

82. Lillie Mae SEGRAVES. Born on 6 Aug 1903 in Tennessee. At the age of 36, Lillie Mae died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 10 Nov 1939. Buried in Nov 1939 in New Hope Cemetery, Yuma, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 14th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1920.

On 3 Jun 1923 when Lillie Mae was 19, she married Buford Pinkston HORN, in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born on 20 May 1904. At the age of 77, Buford Pinkston died in Westport, Carroll County, Tennessee in Mar 1982. Buried in Mar 1982 in New Hope Cemetery, Yuma, Carroll County, Tennessee.

They had the following children:
i. Lucretia Marie. Born on 21 Apr 1924. At the age of 77, Lucretia Marie died on 14 Apr 2002. Buried on 16 Apr 2002 in New Hope Cemetery, Yuma, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Obituary: Lucretia Marie Merrick, 77, of Huntingdon, died Sunday, April 14, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital. Services were held on Tuesday, April 16, in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel. Brother Lynn Stapleton officiated. Burial followed at the New Hope Cemetery near Yuma. Pallbearers who served were Darnell Ellis, David Ellis, Thomas Horn, Dennis Horn, Bobby Pritchard, and Robert Horn. Mrs. Merrick, the daughter of the late Buford and Lillie Mae Segraves Horn, was born April 21, 1924, in Carroll County. She was a retired employee of Henry I. Siegel and a member of New Hope Baptist church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Merrick, who died in 1984; and two brothers, J.T. Horn and Max L. Horn. She is survived by four sisters, Dorothy Ellis of Clarksburg, Maxine Cary and Lillie Kirby, both of Huntingdon, and Christine Jennings of Dallas, Georgia; and a brother, Tom Horn of Huntingdon


Lucretia Marie married Leslie Wayne MERRICK. Born on 12 Jun 1914. At the age of 70, Leslie Wayne died on 16 Feb 1985. Buried in Feb 1985 in New Hope Cemetery, Yuma, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Military: Leslie Wayne Merrick served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

ii. John Thomas. Born on 5 Dec 1927 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 74, John Thomas died in Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee on 13 Jan 2002. Buried on 15 Jan 2002 in New Hope Cemetery, Yuma, Carroll County, Tennessee. Occupation: Farmer. Alias/AKA: "Bill".

Obituary: J.T. "Bill" Horn, 74, of Huntingdon, died Sunday, January 13, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital. Graveside services were held on Tuesday, January 15, at New Hope Cemetery in Yuma. Brother J.D. Abbott officiated. Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Horn, the son of the late Buford and Lillie Segraves Horn, was born December 5, 1927, in Carroll County. He was a farmer. He is survived by five sisters, Marie Merrick of Cedar Grove, Christine Jennings of Dallas, Georgia, Dorothy Ellis of Clarksburg, and Maxine Cary and Lillie Kirby, both of Huntingdon; and a brother, Tom Horn of Huntingdon.

v. Max L.. Born in 1936. At the age of 1, Max L. died in 1937. Buried in 1937 in New Hope Cemetery, Yuma, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Maxine married William Earl CARY, son of Ether Lee CARY (1902-) & Tessie Marie HOLLOWELL (1907-1993).
