On 6 Nov 1897 when Elsie Geneva was 15, she married Berry BAUMGARDNER, son of William BAUMGARDNER (1847-1917) & Mary Missouri ? (1844-1910), in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born in Aug 1879 in Tennessee. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1880. Resided in 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1910. Resided in 7th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1920.

viii. Herschel Ray. Born on 30 Mar 1916 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 84, Herschel Ray died in Cedar Grove, Carroll County, Tennessee on 13 Sep 2000. Buried in Sep 2000 in Hickory Flat Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Obituary: Services for Hershel Ray Baumgardner, 84, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Dilday Funeral Home in Huntingdon. Burial will be in the Hickory Flatt Cemetery.Mr. Baumgardner, an employee of the Milan Arsenal, died Wednesday at his home of cancer. He is survived by his wife, Josephine Fortner Baumgardner of Cedar Grove. He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Eric, Clarence, Sid, Priest, Jessie, James, and Leroy Baumgardner; and two sisters, Bessie Mae Scott and Seicle Gibbons.

84. Bessie E. BURNS. Born in 1890. At the age of 34, Bessie E. died in 1924. Buried in 1924 in Palestine Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Bessie E. first married S. Arthur PENDERGRASS, son of John Manley PENDERGRASS (1861-1932) & Sarah Letha ROSS (1865-1932). Born in 1885 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 29, S. Arthur died in Tennessee in 1914. Buried in 1914 in Palestine Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

On 21 Sep 1918 when Bessie E. was 28, she second married Herbert Hawkins PRATER, son of John J. PRATER III (1862-1900) & Mary Ann LYNCH (1854-1931), in Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee. Born in 1887. At the age of 81, Herbert Hawkins died in Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee on 30 Aug 1968. Buried in 1968 in Hampton Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Alias/AKA: "Hub".

They had the following children:
i. Howell Leon. Born on 4 Apr 1920 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 64, Howell Leon died in East Peoria, Tazewell County, Illinois on 16 Jan 1985. Buried in Jan 1985 in Fondulac Cemetery, East Peoria, Illinois.

Howell Leon married Georgia Rettielou BOWMAN, daughter of George BOWMAN & Velta Marie TAYLOR (1904-), in Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee. Born in Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee. Georgia Rettielou died in East Peoria, Tazewell County, Illinois in Aug 1986.
