40. Yancey Nelson JAMES. Born on 4 Feb 1905. At the age of 78, Yancey Nelson died on 16 Jul 1983. Buried in Jul 1983 in Poplar Corner Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee. Alias/AKA: "Nelson".

On 5 Sep 1925 when Yancey Nelson was 20, he married Hetty Opal RAINEY, daughter of James Robert RAINEY (1865-1924) & Sophia Elizabeth Beth WESTERN (1874-1951). Born on 20 Sep 1907. At the age of 89, Hetty Opal died on 4 Feb 1997. Buried in Feb 1997 in Poplar Corner Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.

They had the following children:
i. Jessie Odell. Born on 11 Mar 1929. Jessie Odell died on 11 Mar 1929. Buried in Mar 1929 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.

ii. Martha Vivian. Born on 26 Aug 1933.

On 12 Jun 1953 when Martha Vivian was 19, she married Harold Wilson POLLOCK.

iii. Berthal Elizabeth. Born on 5 Dec 1938.

On 26 Oct 1952 when Berthal Elizabeth was 13, she married Carl Edward BARTHOLOMEW. Alias/AKA: "Buddy".


41. Fannie Ocie JAMES. Born on 6 Mar 1909. At the age of 86, Fannie Ocie died in McKenzie, Carroll County, Tennessee on 17 Feb 1996. Buried in Feb 1996 in Liberty Cemetery. Resided in Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1987.

Obituary: Joint Funeral services for Ocie Reynolds, 86, and her son, Charlie Reynolds, 70, will be at noon today at Dilday Funeral Home. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery for Mrs. Reynolds and in Prospect Cemetery for Mr. Reynolds. Mr. Reynolds retired form Carter Carburetor Inc., died Friday at the Barnes St. Peters Hospital in St. Peters, Mo., of lung disease. Mrs. Reynolds, a retired employee of the Milan Arsenal, died Saturday at the Oak Manor Nursing Home in McKenzie of heart failure. They are survived by husband and father, Charlie F. Reynolds of McKenzie. They had five daughters and sisters, Betty Nash of Wayland, Mich., Judy Williams of Inverness, Fla., Norene Carpenter of Camden, Dianna Lankford of McKenzie, and Nellie Jo Rich of Huntingdon. They had four sons and brothers, J.L. Reynolds, Dallas Reynolds and Leon Reynolds, all of Huntingdon, and Lonnie Reynolds of Clinton. Mr. Reynolds was married to Henry Sue Tosh Reynolds of St. Peters. He had a son, Stanley Reynolds of Huntingdon. He had two daughters, Donna Moore and Linda Wood, both of St. Peters. Mrs. Reynolds had a sister, Ola James of Milan.

On 24 Sep 1924 when Fannie Ocie was 15, she married Charlie F. REYNOLDS, son of Jake REYNOLDS & Betty Dorothy BISHIP. Resided in McKenzie, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1996.

They had the following children:

ii. Norene. Resided in Camden, Benton County, Tennessee in 1996.

42. Connie Thomas JAMES. Born on 3 Mar 1915. At the age of 71, Connie Thomas died in Henderson County, Tennessee on 12 Jan 1987. Buried in Jan 1987 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee. Alias/AKA: "Pete".

Obituary: Services for Connie "Pete" James, 71, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Reed's Chapel in Lexington with the Rev. Floyd Dennison and the Rev. Wayne Rowan officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove's Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Mr. James, a retired farmer and Jackson Sun newspaper carrier, died Monday morning at Baptist Hospital of Huntingdon. A Henderson County native, he was a member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Lillian Jordan James; two daughters, Barbara Bobo of Millport, Ala., and Carolyn Driver of Fayetteville, Ga.; two sons, Larry James of Cedar Grove and Robert James of Jackson; four sisters, Ocie Reynolds of Huntingdon, Ola James of Milan, Opal Reynolds of Aurora, Ill., and Lula B. Holmes of Toledo, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Conrad James, Adam James and Christie James, all of Jackson.

Connie Thomas married Mary Lillian JORDAN, daughter of John Robert JORDAN & Sallie LITTLES. Born on 18 Apr 1922.

They had the following children:

ii. Barbara Ellen. Born on 25 Jul 1941. Resided in Millsport, Alabama in 1987.

43. Betty Ola JAMES. Born on 1 Feb 1916. Resided in Milan, Gibson County, Tennessee in 1987. Resided in Milan, Gibson County, Tennessee in 1996.

Betty Ola first married Willis Leo DOUGLAS Senior, son of Willie Lester DOUGLAS (1883-1957) & Nancy Ann COFFMAN (1883-1962). Born in 1910. At the age of 57, Willis Leo died in 1967. Buried in 1967 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee. They were divorced.

On 9 Aug 1936 when Betty Ola was 20, she second married Phillip Harrison JAMES, son of Benjamin Harrison JAMES & Myrtle VAUGHN. Born on 10 Feb 1910. At the age of 77, Phillip Harrison died on 15 Aug 1987. Buried in Aug 1987 in Hopewell Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Obituary: Services for Phillip Harrison James, 77, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Bodkin Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery near Lavinia. Mr. James, a retired owner and operator of Milan Exxon Service Station, died Saturday morning at his home. He was married to Ola James, and they had three children, Betty J. Hudspeth of Centerville, Wanda Bullington of Hermitage and Harold James of Millan, and a stepson, Cletus Douglas of Maynard, Ark.

44. Hazel Haraan JAMES. Born on 13 Apr 1918 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 56, Hazel Haraan died in Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee on 20 May 1974. Buried in May 1974 in Parkburg Cemetery, Parksburg, Madison County, Tennessee. Cause of death: Cancer.

Obituary: Services for Mrs. Hazel Hayran Sharpe, 56, a long-time Parkburg Community resident, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Griffin Funeral Home chapel with the Miles Zeigler and the Rev. Joe Naylor officiating. Burial will be in Parkburg Cemetery. Mrs. Shape died at 12:10 a.m. today in the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. She was born in Henderson County, daughter of the late Lewis and Martha Peterson James, and educated in the county schools. She had been a resident of the Parkburg Community since her marriage to Amos H. Sharpe in 1958. She was a member of the Parkburg Baptist Church. Surviving besides her husband are a son, J.W. Blackwell of Chicago; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Sue Hanna of Jackson; two brothers, Nelson James of Wildersville and Connie T. James of Cedar Grove; four sisters, Mrs. Opal Reynolds of Steel, Mo., Mrs. Ocie Reynolds of Huntingdon, Mrs. Laura Holmes of Toledo, Ohio, and Miss Betty Ola James of Milan; and nine grandchildren. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Hazel Haraan first married Reverend Andy Theodore BLACKWELL. Born in 1911. At the age of 37, Andy Theodore died in 1948. Buried in 1948 in Lessenberry Chapel, Gibson County, Tennessee.

They had the following children:
i. John W.. Born on 21 Sep 1936. At the age of 57, John W. died on 11 Mar 1994. Resided in Chicago, Illinois in 1974.

John W. Blackwell was cremated.

ii. Dorothy Sue. Born in 1938. Resided in Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee in 1974.

iii. Joy Lucille. Joy Lucille died in Henderson County, Tennessee on 22 Oct 1941. Buried in Oct 1941 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.


In 1958 when Hazel Haraan was 39, she second married Amos Holmes SHARPE. Born in 1907 in Mississippi. At the age of 74, Amos Holmes died in Parkway Hospital, Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee in Jul 1981. Buried in Jul 1981 in Parkburg, Parkburg Cemetery, Madison County, Tennessee.

Obituary: Services for Amos Holmes Sharpe, 74, will be at 2 p.m. today at Graffin Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Naylor officiating. Burial will be in Parkburg Cemetery. Mr. Sharpe, a retired machinist for the old Gulf, Mobile & Ohio Railroad, died Friday at Parkway Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Mississippi but lived most of his life on U.S. 45 in South Jackson. His wife, the former Hazel Hayran, preceded him in death in 1974. Mr. Sharpe was a member of Masonic Lodge 75 in Louisville, Miss., and a Baptist. He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Joy Wood of Highland, TExas: a sister, Mrs. Louie Clark of Louisville; a half sister, Mrs. Evelyn Clark of Louisville: a brother, Oakley Sharpe of Greenville, Miss.; a half brother, Everett Sharpe of Texarkana, Texas; and three grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Billy Wyatt, Richard Ragan, Bobby Smith, Carlyle Daniels, Tab Calloway, and David Blackwood.

45. Laura Bee JAMES. Born on 22 Oct 1921. At the age of 69, Laura Bee died in 1991. Buried in 1991 in Toledo, Ohio. Resided in Toledo, Ohio in 1987. Alias/AKA: "Lula". Cause of death: Cancer.

Laura Bee first married Chris BAXTER.

Laura Bee second married Harley FORTNER.

They had the following children:
i. Glen.

ii. Bobby.

iii. Charles. Charles died in 1991.


Laura Bee third married James LONGMIRE.

They had one child:
i. Linda.
