97. Henry WALL. Born on 18 Mar 1906 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 64, Henry died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 24 Nov 1970. Buried in 1970 in Roans Creek Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Henry married Valcour BURTON, daughter of Henry Cornelius BURTON (1875-1948) & Martha A. MILAM (1877-1914). Born on 24 Jun 1904 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 67, Valcour died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 29 Mar 1972. Buried in 1972 in Roans Creek Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

98. Vernice WALL. Born on 25 Mar 1910. At the age of 77, Vernice died in 7th Civil District, Carroll County, Tennessee on 29 Dec 1987. Buried in 1987 in Lexington Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.

Vernice first married Margaret Jane SCOTT, daughter of Luther Jackson SCOTT (1880-1960) & Suddie Lillian HOOD (1890-1966). Born on 17 Nov 1916 in Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 85, Margaret Jane died in McKenzie, Carroll County, Tennessee on 25 Mar 2002. Buried on 27 Mar 2002 in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, McKenzie, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in McKenzie, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1999.

Obituary: Services for Margaret Jane "Mama Jane" Higdon, 85, will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at McKenzie Church of Christ with Bro. Jim Roberts and Bro. Kenneth Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, McKenzie, TN. Brummitt Funeral Home, McKenzie, TN in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Higdon, Retired from Brown Shoe Co., died Monday Morning, March 25, 2002 at Methodist Hospital, McKenzie. She was born November 17, 1916 in Clarksburg, TN. She was a member of the McKenzie Church of Christ. Survivors include daughters, Sue Patton of Valrico, FL, Velta Flippin, Shelba McCaslin, Linda Reed, Lodie Hudson, Jodie Baker and Sherry Epperson, all of McKenzie, TN; sons, Richard Wall of Sommerville, TN, Donald Higdon of McKenzie, TN, and Terry Higdon of Camden, TN; sister, Frances Nell Forrest of Huntingdon, TN; brothers, Charlie Scott and Cecil Scott, both of Trezevant, TN; seventeen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Elton Higdon, mother and father Sudie Hood Scott & Luther Scott; sister, Gracie Frazee and brothers, Onnie Scott, Virgil Scott and Walter D. Scott.

Vernice second married Opal BARTHOLOMEW, daughter of James Lee BARTHOLOMEW (1880-1955) & Lillie WHITE (1886-1966). Born on 12 Jul 1912 in Scotts Hill, Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 89, Opal died in Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee on 8 Mar 2002. Buried on 10 Mar 2002 in Lexington Cemetery, Lexington, Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in District 6, Decatur County, Tennessee in 1920. Resided in Cedar Grove, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1999.

Obituary: Funeral services for Opal Bartholomew Jowers Wall, age 89, will be held Today, March 10, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Pafford Funeral Home in Lexington. Bro. Jason Russell and Bro. Mike McKee will officiate. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery. Mama Wall died Friday, March 8, 2002 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon, TN. She was the widow of Elbert Jowers and Vernice Wall. She was the daughter of the late Jim and Lillie Bartholomew. She was born at Scotts Hill, Tennessee on July 12, 1912 and was reared in Henderson and Decatur County. Under the preaching of Bro. Fleetwood Ball at the age of fourteen, she was saved from grace. Mrs. Wall is survived by one son, Bobby E. Jowers of Clarksburg and one daughter, Marie Stanfill of Lexington; five grandchildren, Steve Stanfill, Bobby M. Jowers, Anna Marie Cary and Linda Robinson; twelve great grandchildren, fourteen great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Mack Bartholomew of Huntingdon, Farris Bartholomew of Clarksburg; three sisters, Irene James of Huron, Alma Lee Halters of Wildersville and Imogene Blackwell of Cedar Grove. She was preceded in death by a sister, Eunice Dabbs; six brothers, Aaron, Coy, Oakley, Woodrow, Paul and Fay Bartholomew. Pallbearers to serve will be Steve Stanfill, Jimmy Stanfill, Bobby M. Jowers, Brent Stanfill, Jeff Stanfill, Bennie Cary and Jason Bunch.



99. Virgil WALL. Born on 25 Mar 1910 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 93, Virgil died in Bruceton, Carroll County, Tennessee on 21 Aug 2003. Buried on 22 Aug 2003 in Clarksburg Cemetery, Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Obituary: Mr. Virgil Wall, 93, of Clarksburg, Tennessee died Thursday, August 21, 2003 at the Life Care Center in Bruceton. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, August 22, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at the Clarksburg Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Clarksburg Cemetery. Bro. Phillip Halter and Bro. Andrew Stokes will officiate the service. Mr. Wall was born March 25, 1910 in Carroll County, Tennessee to the late Luther and Elizabeth (Pendergrass) Wall. He was a retired farmer, member of the Ruritan Club of Clarksburg and the oldest serving deacon of 50+ years for the Clarksburg Missionary Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by his wife, who died April 29, 2002, Mary Crider Wall; his step-mother, Eva Pritchard Wall; one son, Bobby Wall; two brothers, Henry Wall and Bernice Wall. He is survived by one daughter, Betty (Charles) Swearingen of Hollow Rock and one daughter-in-law, Ruth Wall of Bartlett, Tennessee. He also leaves five grandchildren, Dr. Barry (Stephanie) Wall, Lynn (Betsy) Wall, Rhonda (Russell) Downen, Lillian (Tony) Watson Allen, Don (Trish) Swearingen and ten great grandchildren. Pallbearers to serve will be Barry Wall, Lynn Wall, Melvin Wall, Tony Allen, Russell Downen and Danny Ross. Honorary pallbearers will be James Wall and Richard Wall.



On 3 Jun 1933 when Virgil was 23, he married Mary Vinnie CRIDER, daughter of Hugh L. CRIDER (1888-1971) & Lillie May WHITEHORN (1895-1978). Born on 9 Jan 1915 in Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 87, Mary Vinnie died in Bruceton, Carroll County, Tennessee on 29 Apr 2002. Buried on 1 May 2002 in Clarksburg Cemetery, Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1930.

Obituary: Mrs. Mary C. Wall, 87, of Clarksburg, Tennessee, died Monday, April 29, 2002 at the Life Care Center in Bruceton. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at 2:00 PM at the Clarksburg Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Clarksburg Cemetery. Brother Phillip Halters will officiate the service. Mrs. Wall was born January 9, 1915 in Clarksburg, Tennessee to the late Hugh and Lillie (Whitehorn) Crider. She was a member of the Clarksburg Missionary Baptist Church and was married to Mr. Virgil Wall on June 3, 1933. One son, Bobby Wall and one brother, Buck Crider, also preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of sixty-eight years, Virgil Wall; one daughter, Betty (Charles) Wall Swearingen of Hollow Rock and one daughter-in-law, Ruth Wall of Bartlett, TN. She also leaves five grandchildren, Dr. Barry (Stephanie) Wall, Lynn (Betsy) Wall, Rhonda (Russell) Downen, Lillian (Tony) Watsonallen, Don (Trish) Swearingen and ten great-grandchildren
