11. John F. PENDERGRASS. Born in Aug 1856 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 78, John F. died in Carroll County, Tennessee in 1935. Buried in 1935 in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 7th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1880. Occupation: Farmer. Alias/AKA: "Booker".

On 5 Oct 1879 when John F. was 23, he married Bettie A. BRANDON, daughter of Harrison Scott BRANDON (1822-1897) & Nancy GIST (1826-), in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born in 1864 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 89, Bettie A. died in Carroll County, Tennessee in 1953. Buried in 1953 in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 7th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1880.

They had the following children:
i. Minnie B.. Born in 1881 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 5, Minnie B. died in Carroll County, Tennessee in 1886.

GREETING:
You, or either of you, are hereby authorized to solemnize the Rites of Matrimony between John Pendergrass and Bettie Brandon of our County, agreeably of the Act of Assembly in such case made and provided: PROVIDED ALWAYS, that the Rite of Matrimony be solemnized in this County; otherwise these shall be null and void, and shall not be accounted any License or authority to you, for the purpose aforesaid, more than though the same had never been prayed or granted, etc. Given at the Clerk's office of said County, this 4th day of October 1879. Know all men, That we, John Pendergrass of the County of Carroll, and State of Tennessee, are held and firmly bound in the State of Tennessee, in the sum of Twelve Hundred and Fifty Dollars, to which payment, well and truly to be made, we bind our heirs, executors and administrators, and each every one of us and them, both jointly and severally, firmally by these presents. Witness our hands and seals, the 4th day of October 1879.
The Condition of the above Obligation is such, That whereas, John Pendergrass hath prayed and obtained License to marry Bettie Brandon.
Now, if the said Bettie Brandon be an actual resident of the County aforesaid, and there shall not hereafter appear any lawful cause why the said John Pendergrass and Bettie Brandon should not be joined together in Holy Matrimony, as Husband and Wife, then this obligation to be void and of no effect; otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.

12. William C. PENDERGRASS. Born in 1858 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 39, William C. died in Carroll County, Tennessee in 1897. Buried in 1897 in Palestine Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

William C. Pendergrass was living with his grandparents, John and Tabitha Grant, in the 7th District, Carroll County, Tennessee, during the 1880 Census.

On 27 Mar 1889 when William C. was 31, he married Zora Elizabeth ROSS, daughter of Frederick Issac ROSS (1831-1910) & Mary Jane SMITH (1835-1906), in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born in 1863 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 81, Zora Elizabeth died in Carroll County, Tennessee in 1944. Buried in 1944 in Palestine Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Alias/AKA: "Zory".

They had one child:

13. James Steven PENDERGRASS. Born on 10 Jan 1860 in Carroll County, Tennessee. Buried in Oct 1943 in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 83, James Steven died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 17 Oct 1943. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1930. Alias/AKA: "Jim".

James Steven Pendergrass was living with his grandparents, John and Tabitha Grant, 7th District, Carroll County, Tennessee, during the 1880 Census.

On 27 Aug 1884 when James Steven was 24, he married Martha Jane RIGSBY, daughter of Lafayette RIGSBY (1844-) & Sarah A. ? (1842-), in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born on 22 Nov 1860 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 76, Martha Jane died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 22 Sep 1937. Buried in Sep 1937 in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1880. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1930. Occupation: Homemaker and midwife.

14. Sarah Martha PENDERGRASS. Born on 15 Aug 1864 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 61, Sarah Martha died in Gibson County, Tennessee on 23 Dec 1925. Buried in Dec 1925 in Double Springs Cemetery, Milan, Gibson County, Tennessee. Resided in 8th District, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1880. Alias/AKA: "Mattie".

Sarah Martha married Thomas W. PILLOW Junior, son of Thomas P. PILLOW Senior (1833-1927) & Sarah GATELY (1838-1926). Born on 17 Nov 1858 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 69, Thomas W. died in Madison County, Tennessee on 18 Sep 1928. Buried in Sep 1928 in Double Springs Cemetery, Milan, Gibson County, Tennessee. Resided in 8th District, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1880. Alias/AKA: "Tom".

They had the following children:
i. James. Born in Oct 1883.

ii. Gideon. Born in Oct 1887.

iii. Jennie. Born in 1888.

iv. Charles. Born in Nov 1889. At the age of 44, Charles died in 1934. Buried in 1934 in Double Springs Cemetery, Milan, Gibson County, Tennessee.

vi. Samuel Lum. Born on 24 Dec 1892. At the age of 79, Samuel Lum died on 17 Sep 1972. Buried in Sep 2000 in Double Springs Cemetery, Milan, Gibson County, Tennessee.

vii. Oscar Ray. Born on 3 Apr 1894 in Tennessee. At the age of 78, Oscar Ray died in Milan, Gibson County, Tennessee on 6 Oct 1972. Buried in Oct 1972 in Double Springs Cemetery, Milan, Gibson County, Tennessee. Resided in Trezevant, Carroll County, Tennessee. Occupation: Farmer.

Oscar Ray married Mollie YOUNG. Born on 3 Jan 1895 in Tennessee. At the age of 73, Mollie died in Milan, Gibson County, Tennessee on 22 May 1968. Buried in May 1968 in Double Springs Cemetery, Milan, Gibson County, Tennessee.

viii. Frances. Born in 1896. Alias/AKA: "Fannie".

ix. Dewey. Born in Sep 1898.

x. Lonnie B.. Born on 14 Aug 1904. At the age of 65, Lonnie B. died on 10 May 1970.


Tom and Sarah Martha (Mattie) lived in the Milan area of Gibson County, Tennessee.

15. Joseph Benjamin PENDERGRASS. Born in 1868 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 78, Joseph Benjamin died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 2 Dec 1946. Buried in Dec 1946 in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 8th District, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1880.

On 4 Mar 1891 when Joseph Benjamin was 23, he married Elizabeth KEE, daughter of Charles KEE (1823-1917) & Mary Jane COX (1837-1899), in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born in 1869 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 84, Elizabeth died in Carroll County, Tennessee in 1953. Buried in 1953 in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1880.

They had the following children:
