Family of John PEARSON (1) & Penelope TAYLOR

2. Shaderick PEARSON, Senior. Born on 1 Feb 1809 in Anson County, North Carolina. At the age of 64, Shaderick died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 7 Jun 1873. Buried in Jun 1873 in Pearson Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1850. Resided in 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1860. Occupation: Farmer. Alias/AKA: "Shade". Cause of death: Apoplexy.

Moved to Carroll County, Tennessee, from Henderson County, in 1848.

In 1831 when Shaderick was 21, he first married Betsy COX, daughter of Jacint COX (1790-1855) & Winneford ? (1789-). Born in 1811 in Anson County, North Carolina. At the age of 34, Betsy died in Tennessee in 1845.

They had the following children:
i. Elizabeth. Born in 1832 in Anson County, North Carolina.

On 27 Aug 1845 when Shaderick was 36, he second married Elizabeth PRITCHARD, daughter of Jesse PRITCHARD (1760-1843) & Mary ?, in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born in 1824 in North Carolina.

They had the following children:

ii. Shaderack. Born in 1852 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 79, Shaderack died in Carroll County, Tennessee in 1931. Buried in 1931 in Pearson Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1860. Resided in 6th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1870. Alias/AKA: "Shade".

Shaderack married Levado KIRBY. Born in 1857 in Tennessee. At the age of 69, Levado died in 1926. Buried in 1926 in Pearson Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

iii. Jesse. Born about 1854 in Tennessee. Resided in 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1860.

iv. Joseph. Born in 1861 in Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 6th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1870.


On 21 Sep 1864 when Shaderick was 55, he third married Elizabeth Jane LIFSEY, daughter of Edwin LIFSEY & ?, in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born on 9 Jul 1834 in Tennessee. At the age of 79, Elizabeth Jane died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 23 Jan 1914. Buried in 1914 in Pearson Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

William PEARSON. Born on 1 Jun 1810 in North Carolina. At the age of 68, William died in Claybrook, Madison County, Tennessee on 14 Oct 1878. Buried in Oct 1878 in Pearson Cemetery, Claybrook, Madison County, Tennessee. Resided in District 17, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1850. Alias/AKA: "Billy".

William married Eliza WILLIAMS. Born on 11 Feb 1811 in Anson County, North Carolina. At the age of 62, Eliza died in Claybrook, Madison County, Tennessee on 27 Jul 1873. Resided in 17th District, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1850.

On 10 Mar 1870 when Mary Penelope was 28, she married Thomas BERRY, in Madison County, Tennessee.

v. William Thomas. Born on 8 Apr 1844 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 20, William Thomas died in Marietta, Georgia on 22 Jun 1864. Buried in Jun 1864 in Marietta, Georgia. Resided in 17th District, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1850.

4. Nathan PEARSON. Born on 27 Jun 1811 in Anson County, North Carolina. At the age of 77, Nathan died in Henderson County, Tennessee on 23 Apr 1889. Buried in 1889 in Pearson Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.

Nathan married Mary Ann PRITCHARD, daughter of Charles PRITCHARD (1796-1872) & Martha WILLIAMS (1800-1883). Born on 2 Nov 1815 in Anson County, North Carolina. At the age of 53, Mary Ann died in Henderson County, Tennessee on 22 Apr 1869. Buried in Apr 1869 in Pearson Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.

5. Peter PEARSON Senior. Born on 11 Oct 1814 in Anson County, North Carolina. At the age of 72, Peter died in Henderson County, Tennessee on 16 May 1887. Buried in May 1887 in Pearson Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in 8th District, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1850. Resided in 10th District, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1860. Occupation: Legislator/Farmer.

Hon. Peter Pearson, and old and respected citizen of the Eighth District, was born in Anson County, N.C. in 1814, a son of John and Penelope (Taylor) Pearson. The father was of French-Welsh descent, born in Perquimans County, N.C. In 1836, he immigrated to Henderson County, Tenn. where he died at the age of sixty-eight. His wife was of Irish descent, a native of Edgecombe County, N.C. She lived to be the age of ninety years, was the mother of four children, only two of whom are living. Nathan, who is about two years older than Peter, is also a resident of Henderson County. The subject of this sketch came to Tennessee about one year earlier than his father, and December 3, 1835, married a daughter of Scion and Hannah Pritchard, Miss Mary, who was born in North Carolina and died January 26, 1864, at the age of forty-six years. She left seven children: James N., John D., Peter S., Jemima, wife of Dr. G.W. Laws, and Martha, wife of William Milam. In July 1873, Mr. Pearson married, the second time, Harriet McMurray, born in Maury County, Tenn. Mr. Pearson is a stanch Democrat, an influential man in his party. Pervious to the war he was magistrate for four years. In 1863 was elected on a general ticket as representative, and for three terms represented his people in a manner highly creditable and satisfactory. He is an old and honored member of the I.O.O.F, head officer at the lodge at Wildersville. Mr. Pearson commenced life as a poor man, and the property he accumulated was all destroyed during the war, but by industry, courage and judicious management he is now possessor of a fine farm containing acres of valuable land, well cultivated, stocked and improved. He is a man of sound judgment, a good adviser, whose council is often sought. He is highly esteemed wherever he is known.

On 22 Dec 1835 when Peter was 21, he first married Mary Ann PRITCHARD, daughter of Scion PRITCHARD & Hannah WILLIAMS, in Henderson County, Tennessee. Born on 7 Jan 1820 in North Carolina. At the age of 46, Mary Ann died in Henderson County, Tennessee on 24 Jan 1866. Buried in 1866 in Pearson Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in 10th District, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1860.

They had the following children:

Alias/AKA: "Duke".

vii. Susanna E.. Born on 15 Jun 1851. At the age of 1, Susanna E. died on 28 Aug 1852.

6. Jemima Lacy PEARSON. Born on 19 Dec 1823 in North Carolina. At the age of 59, Jemima Lacy died on 30 May 1883. Buried in May 1883 in Brown Cemetery, Madison County, Tennessee. Resided in 8th District, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1850.

Jemima Lacy married Henry KIRBY. Born on 8 Sep 1816 in North Carolina. At the age of 60, Henry died on 4 Aug 1877. Buried in Aug 1877 in Brown Cemetery, Madison County, Tennessee. Resided in 8th District, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1850.

They had the following children:
