140. Horace R. KIRBY. Born in 1891 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 79, Horace R. died in 1970. Buried in 1970 in Carroll County Memorial Gardens, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in District 7, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1930.

On 3 Oct 1909 when Horace R. was 18, he married Esther PENDERGRASS, daughter of William C. PENDERGRASS (1858-1897) & Zora Elizabeth ROSS (1863-1944), in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born in 1890. At the age of 85, Esther died in 1975. Buried in 1975 in Carroll County Memorial Gardens, Carroll County, Tennessee.

They had the following children:
i. Opal. Born on 19 Jul 1910 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 79, Opal died in Gibson County, Tennessee on 21 Nov 1989.

Opal married Cletus A. MERRITT, son of Bennie MERRITT (1883-1925) & Ella HOOD (63) (1882-1963). Cletus A. died in 1981.

ii. Madelyn. Born in 1920 in Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in Toledo, Ohio in 1994. Resided in District 7, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1930.

Madelyn married Samuel GLORE.

278 iii. James Edward (1926-1994)

141. Joe Clifford KIRBY. Born on 28 Aug 1893 in Cedar Grove, Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 83, Joe Clifford died in Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee on 14 Nov 1976. Buried in 1976 in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Joe Clifford married Ollie ROSS, daughter of William L. ROSS (1869-1943) & Addie J. ROSE (1875-1943). Born on 6 Mar 1897 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 79, Ollie died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 28 Aug 1976. Buried in Aug 1976 in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

They had one child:

142. William Homer KIRBY. Born in 1896 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 71, William Homer died in 1967. Buried in 1967 in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

William Homer married Josie MURPHY, daughter of Hariam Alonzo MURPHY (1871-1952) & Mary Luella MONTGOMERY (1870-1953). Born in Nov 1899 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 73, Josie died in 1973. Buried in 1973 in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

ii. James Roy. Born on 14 Dec 1930 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 2, James Roy died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 14 Dec 1932. Buried in Dec 1932 in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

iii. Mildred.

Mildred married Wayne BYARS.

iv. Betty Lou.

Betty Lou married Robert COLE. Alias/AKA: "Bob".

v. Bobby. Resided in Bruceton, Carroll County, Tennessee in Jan 2004.


143. Harlis Amos KIRBY. Born on 13 Aug 1899. At the age of 68, Harlis Amos died on 30 Apr 1968. Buried in May 1968 in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Harlis Amos married Hettie Elizabeth MURPHY, daughter of Hariam Alonzo MURPHY (1871-1952) & Mary Luella MONTGOMERY (1870-1953). Born on 28 May 1901. At the age of 65, Hettie Elizabeth died on 28 Dec 1966. Buried in Dec 1966 in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

They had the following children:

iii. Lonnie Fred. Born on 21 Dec 1927. Resided in Maryville, Tennessee in May 2003.

On 16 Feb 1946 when Lonnie Fred was 18, he married Ruby BOBB.

v. Bobby Joe.

vi. Peggy Joan. Born on 27 Jul 1938. Resided in Hollow Rock, Carroll County, Tennessee in May 2003.

On 10 Oct 1968 when Peggy Joan was 30, she married Ben William McMACKINS. Alias/AKA: "Bill".


144. Garver KIRBY. Born in 1916. At the age of 57, Garver died in 1973. Buried in 1973 in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in Cedar Grove, Tennessee.

Garver married Thelma THOMSEN, daughter of Eldon Henry THOMSEN (1893-1975) & Nona Leonie TOSH (1895-1985). Born on 17 Apr 1917 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 88, Thelma died in Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee on 11 Nov 2005. Buried on 13 Nov 2005 in New Liberty Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Obituary: Mrs. Thelma Mae Kirby, 88 of Huntingdon, Tennessee passed away Friday, November 11, 2005 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, November 13, 2005 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the New Liberty Cemetery. Bro. Doug Sellers will officiate the service. Pallbearers who will serve are Lee Kirby Harris, Stanley McDaniel, Jimmy Allen, Jason Gooch, Rusty Ross, and Seth McDaniel. Mrs. Kirby was born April 17, 1917 in Carroll County, Tennessee to the late Eldon Henry Thomsen and Nona Leona (Tosh) Thomsen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Garver Kirby; one brother, Garvin Thomsen, and one sister, Ardelle Mann. She was a homemaker and a member of the Christian Chapel Church of Christ. She is survived by one daughter, Loretta Harris (Husband Edward); one son, Jerry Kirby (wife Dianna) all of Huntingdon; two brothers, John Thomsen of Huntingdon, and Harold Thomsen of Collegedale, Tennessee. She also leaves five grandchildren, Tammy Allen, Dione McDaniel, April Gooch, Joy Ross, Lee Kirby Harris, nine great grandchildren, Seth McDaniel, Jacob Allen, Dylan Gooch, Trevor Gooch, Trent Gooch, Ryan McDaniel, Maggie Ross, Jordan Allen, Emma Ross, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
