2. John R. MURPHY. Born about 1846 in Tennessee.

On 20 Sep 1868 when John R. was 22, he married Sarah Elizabeth STEWART, in Carroll County, Tennessee.

They had one child:
i. Nancy E.. Born in 1869.


3. Mary W. MURPHY. Born in Mar 1848 in Tennessee. At the age of 57, Mary W. died in Sevier County, Arkansas on 12 Mar 1905. Buried in 1905 in Mt. Ida Cemetery, Sevier County, Arkansas.

On 27 Jan 1866 when Mary W. was 17, she married William Manley PENDERGRASS, son of Manley P. PENDERGRASS ( 1800- 1846) & Martha ? ( 1810- 1880), in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born on 10 Apr 1843 in Hillsboro, Chatham County, North Carolina. At the age of 72, William Manley died in Detroit, Red River County, Texas on 12 Jul 1915. Buried in 1915 in Mt. Ida Cemetery, Sevier County, Arkansas. William Manley served in Company G, Seventh Cavalry (U.S.). Occupation: Farmer.

xii. Maude Florence. Born on 3 Feb 1889 in Sevier County, Arkansas. At the age of 86, Maude Florence died in Colorado, Mitchell County, Texas on 9 Oct 1975.

On 30 Nov 1911 when Maude Florence was 22, she married Ralph Bernard CHERRY, in Red River County, Texas.


4. Gilson MURPHY. Born on 8 Jul 1849 in Tennessee. At the age of 64, Gilson died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 8 Feb 1914. Buried in 1914 in New Liberty Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

On 25 Jun 1870 when Gilson was 20, he married Martha A. ROSS, daughter of Frederick Issac ROSS (1831-1910) & Mary Jane SMITH (1835-1906), in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born on 15 May 1856 in Tennessee. At the age of 76, Martha A. died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 21 May 1932. Buried in 1932 in New Liberty Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

They had the following children:
i. Martha Josie. Born on 31 Oct 1875 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 20, Martha Josie died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 16 Aug 1896. Buried in 1896 in New Liberty Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Martha Josie married John B. MONTGOMERY. Born in 1872. John B. died in Carroll County, Tennessee. Buried in New Liberty Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Alias/AKA: "Jack".

5. Nancy H. MURPHY. Born on 26 Mar 1854 in Tennessee. At the age of 43, Nancy H. died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 10 Oct 1897. Buried in 1897 in Palestine Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

On 12 Dec 1878 when Nancy H. was 24, she married William Thomas COLLINS, son of John Nelson COLLINS (1830-1912) & Sarah Agnes LETSINGER (1834-1924), in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born on 18 Jan 1856 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 87, William Thomas died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 21 Apr 1943.

They had the following children:
i. Sarah M.. Born on 4 Sep 1879. At the age of 3, Sarah M. died on 12 Nov 1882.
