Family of Elijah Peter MEGGS (6) & Eveline HERNDON

17. Joseph Elijah MEGGS. Born on 20 Sep 1887 in Decatur County, Tennessee. At the age of 81, Joseph Elijah died in Modesto, California on 18 Dec 1968. Resided in Stanislaus County, California in 1910. Resided in Modesto, Stanislaus County, California in 1930.

On 19 Aug 1904 when Joseph Elijah was 16, he married Minnie Belle FIDDLER, daughter of John T. FIDDLER (1851-) & Martha A. ? (1857-), in Henderson County, Tennessee. Born in 1889 in Tennessee. Resided in District 6, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1910. Resided in Modesto, Stanislaus County, California in 1930.

Minnie Belle Fiddler and her son, Hubert Meggs, were living with her father, Joseph Fiddler, 6th District, Henderson County, in 1910.

They had the following children:
i. Hubert F.. Born in 1906 in Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in District 6, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1910. Resided in Modesto, Stanislaus County, California in 1930.

ii. Vernon. Born in 1918 in California.

iii. Lola. Born in 1920 in California.


18. Charles J. MEGGS. Born on 20 Jan 1891 in Decatur County, Tennessee. At the age of 75, Charles J. died in Decatur County, Tennessee in 1967. Buried in 1967 in Bear Creek Cemetery, Decatur County, Tennessee. Resided in District 6, Decatur County, Tennessee in 1900. Resided in District 6, Decatur County, Tennessee in 1910. Alias/AKA: "Josh".

Charles J. married Clessie DUKE, in Tennessee. Born on 3 Dec 1894 in Decatur County, Tennessee. At the age of 65, Clessie died in Decatur County, Tennessee in 1960. Buried in 1960 in Bear Creek Cemetery, Decatur County, Tennessee.

They had the following children:
38 i. James A. (1917-)
ii. Ruby E.. Born on 28 Dec 1918 in Decatur County, Tennessee.

Ruby E. married Gilbert BOX.

iii. Charles Ray. Born on 20 Jan 1921 in Decatur County, Tennessee.

iv. J.C.. Born on 6 Jun 1938 in Decatur County, Tennessee.
