Family of John MASSEY (4) & Elizabeth Susan JOHNSON

12. Sarah Jane MASSEY. Born on 22 Nov 1851 in Tennessee. At the age of 45, Sarah Jane died in Hamilton County, Texas on 5 Dec 1896. Buried in Dec 1896 in Center Valley Cemetery, Hamilton County, Texas.

On 24 Jan 1872 when Sarah Jane was 20, she married William Joseph LITTLEPAGE, son of Powhatan Bolling LITTLEPAGE & Mary Jane DEARMORE, in Madison County, Tennessee. Born on 9 Sep 1848 in Madison County, Tennessee. At the age of 80, William Joseph died in Fort Worth, Tarrant, Texas on 8 Jan 1929.

William and Sarah lived in Spring Creek, Madison County, Tennessee. William also operated a general store in Jackson, Tennessee, the seat of Madison County. About 1885, they moved to Hill County, Texas. Their eight child was born there. In 1893, they moved to Hamilton, Texas. William and Sarah had 13 children.

They had the following children:
i. Andrew. Born on 21 Nov 1872. Andrew died in 1872.

ii. William Hickman. Born on 12 Mar 1874. At the age of 70, William Hickman died on 23 Jun 1944.

iii. Brunettie. Born on 6 Oct 1875. At the age of 6, Brunettie died on 14 Feb 1882.

iv. Samuel James. Born on 22 Mar 1877. At the age of 72, Samuel James died on 17 May 1949.

v. Agnes Lu Della. Born on 22 Jan 1879. At the age of 85, Agnes Lu Della died on 24 Apr 1964.

vii. Benjamin Franklin. Born on 22 Mar 1883. At the age of 80, Benjamin Franklin died on 11 Sep 1963.

viii. Sallie. Born on 11 Mar 1885.

ix. Dora Allis. Born on 22 Feb 1886. At the age of 67, Dora Allis died on 25 Feb 1953.

x. Paul Sheldon. Born on 23 Jun 1888. At the age of 61, Paul Sheldon died on 8 Nov 1949.

Paul Sheldon married Zela MURREY.

xi. John Pitan. Born on 29 Aug 1890. At the age of 60, John Pitan died on 8 Feb 1951.

xii. Joseph C.. Born on 24 Jul 1893. At the age of 72, Joseph C. died on 19 Oct 1965.

xiii. Rueben. Born on 11 Sep 1895. At the age of 19, Rueben died on 5 Nov 1914. Buried in 1914 in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.


13. Martha Minerva MASSEY. Born in 1855 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 72, Martha Minerva died in 1927. Buried in 1927 in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in District 12, Madison County, Tennessee in 1860. Occupation: Homemaker.

On 24 Sep 1876 when Martha Minerva was 21, she first married William Archy MEALS, son of Elder Samuel H. MEALS (1813-1895) & Elizabeth H. DOUGLAS (1823-1888), in Spring Creek, Madison County, Tennessee. Born on 11 Dec 1857 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 22, William Archy died in 13th Civil District, Carroll County, Tennessee on 4 Dec 1880. Buried in Dec 1880 in Coffman Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1860. Resided in District 8, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1870. Occupation: Farmer. William Archy also had a silversmith business in Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1879. Alias/AKA: "Billy".

William Meals's cousin, Dr. Homer McGill, gave him poison by mistake. He realized it as soon as it happened, but it was too late to do anything about it. Billy is buried beside his parents at Coffman Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee. Dr. McGill provided free medical care to the William Meals family as long as he lived.

They had the following children:

32 ii. Susan Elizabeth (1880-1966)
33 iii. Willie Jefferson (1881-1954)

Marriage Announcement: MARRIED--On the 24th inst., at the residence of the bride’s mother, Mrs. E.S. MASSEY, near Spring Creek; by J. D. PEARSON, Esq.; Mr. W. A. MEALS, of Henderson County to Miss Martha M. Massey.



On 12 Nov 1883 when Martha Minerva was 28, she second married Joseph R. THETFORD, in Madison County, Tennessee. Born on 26 Apr 1842. At the age of 70, Joseph R. died on 29 Jun 1912.

Military: Fought in the American Civil War with the 6th US Cavalry.

They had the following children:
34 i. Fannie Bell (1884-1942)
35 ii. Benjamin Harrison (1890-1950)
iii. Autie E.. Born on 13 Aug 1893. At the age of 18, Autie E. died in Tennessee on 23 Sep 1911. Buried in 1911 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.

Autie E. married Sidney Lee BARR, son of Franklin A. BARR (1849-1906) & Mollie A. STRATTON (1859-1896). Born on 31 Jan 1888. At the age of 77, Sidney Lee died in Nov 1965. Buried in Nov 1965 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.


14. Lula E. MASSEY. Born on 9 Mar 1858 in Madison County, Tennessee. At the age of 84, Lula E. died in Humboldt, Gibson County, Tennessee on 9 Jul 1942. Buried on 10 Jul 1942 in Friendship Cemetery, Milan Aresenal, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in District 12, Madison County, Tennessee in 1860. Resided in District 12, Madison County, Tennessee in 1880. Alias/AKA: "Lou".

On 12 Jan 1882 when Lula E. was 23, she married Lemuel H. JONES. Born on 1 Apr 1855 in Gibson County, Tennessee. At the age of 36, Lemuel H. died in Gibson County, Tennessee on 25 Dec 1891. Buried in Dec 1891 in Friendship Cemetery, Milan Arsenal, Carroll County, Tennessee.

They had one child:
36 i. Ludy Dora (1882-1961)

15. Fannie B. MASSEY. Born in May 1868 in Madison County, Tennessee. Buried in Oakland Cemetery, Trenton, Gibson County, Tennessee. Resided in District 12, Madison County, Tennessee in 1880. Resided in District 8, Gibson County, Tennessee in 1900. Resided in District 7, Gibson County, Tennessee in 1920.

On 21 Jan 1892 when Fannie B. was 23, she married William Henry MEACHUM. Born on 15 Apr 1856 in Tennessee. At the age of 55, William Henry died on 5 Jan 1912. Buried in Jan 1912 in Oakland Cemetery, Trenton, Gibson County, Tennessee. Resided in District 8, Gibson County, Tennessee in 1900.

They had one child:
