Family of Madaline LIFSEY (25) & Arnold TAYLOR
Funeral services for James Donald Taylor, age 67, will be held on Friday, November 4, 2005 at 1 PM from the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Robin Wadley and Ed Ballard officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery. Mr. Taylor was born on February 12, 1938 in Madison County, Tennessee the son of the late Arnold and Madeline Lifsey Taylor. He was a lifelong resident of Madison County and attended Madison County Schools. He was a graduate of Freed-Hardeman College and Lambuth College. He was the Owner and Operator of Jackson Glass Company for 12 years. In 1974 he became a full-time technician with the Tennessee Army National Guard. He served with the 230th Signal Battalion and as a Battalion Commander retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. During his career he received numerous awards and upon his retirement received the Legion of Merit Award which is the highest honor given by the Army for non-combat duty. He was an active member of the Bemis Church of Christ were he served as a teacher and deacon. He also served on the original board of directors of Jackson Christian School. He is survived by his wife, Janet Smith Taylor; one daughter, Kimba Taylor Anthony; a son, Todd Taylor and wife Beth all of Jackson; a brother, Bill Taylor and wife Gail of Tulsa, OK and two step-brothers, Jerrry Harrison and wife Linda of Jackson and Jimmy Harrison and wife Bonnie of East Hampton, MA and by six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Bonnie Taylor. Pallbearers to serve are, Gaylon Cooper, Gerald Mays, Jerry Williams, Bill Landers, Bill Nerren, Bill Ross, Bill Wadley, and Don Mitchell. The family will receive friends today, November 3 from 5 PM until 8 PM at the funeral home.
