106. Andrew Jackson Leslie MURPHY. Born on 8 Nov 1863 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 75, Andrew Jackson Leslie died on 16 Apr 1939. Resided in Hot Springs, Arkansas in 1926. Alias/AKA: 'Jack".

On 27 Jul 1916 when Andrew Jackson Leslie was 52, he married Mildred Ruth JONES, daughter of John Washington JONES (1850-1904) & May Rachel WEBSTER (1865-1930). Born on 21 Sep 1892.

They had the following children:

iii. Grace May. Born on 8 Mar 1921. At the age of 3, Grace May died on 4 Apr 1924.


107. John Williams MURPHY Senior. Born on 14 Apr 1866 in Hamburg, Arkansas. At the age of 75, John Williams died in Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee on 3 Dec 1941. Buried in 1941 in Oak Hill Cemetery, Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1926. Occupation: Lawyer. Alias/AKA: "J.W.".

Graduated National Normal University, Lebanon, Ohio. Received BS, MS, and MA Degrees. Studied law at Cumberland University and Southern Normal University. Served as a teacher, lawyer and eventually dean of the Huntingdon Bar.

On 16 Sep 1892 when John Williams was 26, he married Gertrude SMITH. Born on 28 Jun 1868 in Blanchester, Ohio. At the age of 88, Gertrude died in San Antonio, Texas on 31 Jul 1956. Buried in 1956 in Oak Hill Cemetery, Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Gertrude was active in Red Cross, county politics, unemployment relief, and welfare work for many years in Carroll County.

They had the following children:
316 i. Joseph Raymond (1893-1962)
ii. George Thomas. Born on 26 Nov 1896 in Sugar Tree, Tennessee. At the age of 86, George Thomas died in 1983.

George practiced law in Huntingdon as a young man, moved to Detroit and was Judge of Recorder's Court there from 1935 until he retired in 1963.

On 13 Oct 1917 when George Thomas was 20, he first married Essie Louise MEBANE, in Carroll County, Tennessee. They were divorced in 1947.

George and Essie had no children.

On 12 Aug 1948 when George Thomas was 51, he second married Mary Lavinia McGILLIVRAY. Born on 1 Dec 1905.

108. Lula Ella MURPHY. Born on 17 Jan 1873 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 87, Lula Ella died on 25 Dec 1960. Resided in Holladay, Benton County, Tennessee in 1926.

Lula Ella married Dorsey B. GOSSETT. Born on 13 Nov 1869. At the age of 70, Dorsey B. died on 13 Oct 1940. Resided in Holladay, Benton County, Tennessee.

Dorsey was a teacher, farmer, merchant and trader.

109. Doctor Leonard DeWitt MURPHY. Born on 5 Oct 1875. At the age of 70, Leonard DeWitt died in 1946. Buried in 1946 in Jones Cemetery, Wildersville, Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in Buena Vista, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1926.

Graduated Vanderbilt University Medical School. Practiced medicine in and around Buena Vista, Carroll County, Tennessee, for many years - later for a few years in Lobelville.

Leonard DeWitt married Hettie MILAM. Born in 1882. Buried in 1931 in Jones Cemetery, Wildersville, Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 49, Hettie died in 1931.

They had the following children:
329 i. Alba (1903-)
ii. Willie Tommy. Born on 5 Oct 1904.

Lived in Lobelville until after husband's death. She returned to Carroll County, Tennessee.

On 17 Aug 1946 when Willie Tommy was 41, she married Joe BARBER.

No children were produced from this marriage.

iii. John B.. Born on 28 Jan 1911. John B. died on 19 Aug 1911. Buried in 1911 in Jones Cemetery, Wildersville, Henderson County, Tennessee.

330 iv. Leonard DeWitt (1913-)

110. Samuel Walter MURPHY. Born on 4 Mar 1883 in Parkers Crossroads, Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 86, Samuel Walter died on 26 Feb 1970. Buried in 1970 in Jones Cemetery, Wildersville, Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in Wildersville, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1926. Alias/AKA: "Sam".

Sam Murphy was never married.

Sam Murphy was the President of the Bank of Wildersville when the town afforded a bank. He also ran a cotton gin when in season. He was also the Vice President of the Central State Bank of Lexington.
