9. Vinson Ross GURLEY. Born on 2 Apr 1867. At the age of 86, Vinson Ross died in 1954. Buried in 1954 in Independence Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.

Vinson Ross married Sara Jane ALEXANDER. Born on 12 Dec 1870. At the age of 67, Sara Jane died on 8 Jul 1938. Buried in Jul 1938 in Independence Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.

They had the following children:

x. Ruth Lorane. Born on 3 Apr 1907. Resided in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1979.

Ruth Lorane married Robert WILLIAMSON.

xi. Crissie Lorene. Born on 14 Jul 1912. At the age of 15, Crissie Lorene died in 1928. Cause of death: Rheumatic fever.

xii. Paul. Born on 22 Dec 1915. Paul died on 22 Dec 1915.


From Law in Madison County, Tennessee, Vinson Ross Gurley and wife, Sara Jane moved tothe 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee. They lived on the Bass Grave's farm on the old Clarksburg-Milan Road (approximately four miles west of Clarksburg by the Pendergrass Store). Ray Graves, son of Bass Graves lived with the Gurley family. They were living at the Graves place at the time Oder and Corene married. Vinson Ross Gurley and Sara Jane moved back to Madison County and lived near Jackson. Sara Jane died in Madison County and Vinson Ross died at his daughter's house, Izora, in Atwood, Carroll County, Tennessee.

10. Sarah Lucendia GURLEY. Born in 1869 in Mississippi. At the age of 66, Sarah Lucendia died on 6 Nov 1935. Buried in Nov 1935 in Independence Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee. Alias/AKA: "Sallie".

In 1890 when Sarah Lucendia was 21, she married John Nelson LEWELLING, son of Alfred M. LEWELLING (1821-) & Jane HOLMES (1820-). Born in 1854. At the age of 60, John Nelson died in 1914. Buried in 1914 in Independence Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in Henderson County, Tennessee in 1910.

They had the following children:
i. Alberta. Born in 1890. Alberta died in 1890. Buried in 1890 in Independence Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.

ii. Elmer V.. Born in 1891. At the age of 27, Elmer V. died in 1918. Buried in 1918 in Independence Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.

iii. John Elston. At the age of 76, John Elston died on 5 Jun 1969. Born in 1893.

On 30 Dec 1923 when John Elston was 30, he married Elah Mai JOHNSON, daughter of Benjamin Nicholas JOHNSON (1881-1956) & Susan Elizabeth MEALS (1880-1966), in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born on 17 Jun 1899 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 86, Elah Mai died on 3 Dec 1985. Resided in Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee in 1985.

iv. Hassie E.. Born on 5 May 1895. At the age of 4, Hassie E. died on 26 Apr 1900. Buried in Apr 1900 in Independence Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.

11. James Newton GURLEY. Born in 1870. At the age of 81, James Newton died in 1951. Buried in 1951 in Independence Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.

James Newton married Catherine STRATTON. Born in 1877. At the age of 86, Catherine died in Henderson County, Tennessee in 1963. Buried in 1963 in Independence Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.

They had the following children:
i. William Elvis. Born on 31 Oct 1896. At the age of 67, William Elvis died in Henderson County, Tennessee on 2 Feb 1964. Buried in Feb 1964 in Independence Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.

William Elvis married Maud MANLEY. Born in 1900.

Jimmie married Brodie M. MOSIER. Born on 23 Feb 1901. At the age of 67, Brodie M. died in Madison County, Tennessee on 2 Aug 1968. Buried in Aug 1968 in Independence Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.

13. George Washington GURLEY. Buried in 1947 in Independence Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee. George Washington died in 1947. Resided in Henderson County, Tennessee in 1910.

George Washington married Callie B. AUTRY. Born in 1886. At the age of 75, Callie B. died in 1961. Buried in 1961 in Independence Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.

They had the following children:
i. Estelle. Born in 1908. Resided in Medon, Madison County, Tennessee in May 2004.
