1. James Bartholomew GROGAN. Born about 1793 in North Carolina. At the age of 73, James Bartholomew died in Carroll County, Tennessee in 1866. Resided in Henderson County, Tennessee in 1840. Resided in District 8, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1850. Resided in District 7, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1860.

James Bartholomew married Matilda Dotia STOKES. Born about 1793 in South Carolina. Resided in Henderson County, Tennessee in 1840. Resided in District 8, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1850. Resided in District 7, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1860.

They had the following children:
2 i. Rice Ross (1819-1891)
ii. Joseph. Born in 1824 in South Carolina.
3 iii. John Porter (1826-1907)
iv. Matilda. Born in 1827. Alias/AKA: "Matt".
4 v. Sarah Louise (1829-)
