Obituary: James Audraine Gooch, 87, of Huntingdon, died Wednesday, January 2, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital. Services were held on Saturday, January 5, in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel. Brothers Rufus Chandler, A.G. Hayes and Lynn Stapleton officiated. Burial followed in the Carroll Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers who served were Chet Rogers, Trey Quirk, Rickey Wilson, Chris Edwards, Richard Gooch and Clint Wilson. Mr. Gooch, the son of the late Arzie and Mary Ann Stokes Gooch, was born December 2, 1914, in Carroll County. He was a retired millwright, a deacon and the oldest member of the Concord Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vida Roark Gooch, who died in 1959; his second wife, Eloise Bates Gooch, who died in 1994; and two brothers, Joe Lee Gooch and Dwayne Gooch. He is survived by a son, James Waldon Gooch of Memphis; three daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and R.C. Wilson of Huntingdon, Karen and Paul Simmons of Antioch, and Pamela and Sammy Edwards of Yuma; a stepdaughter, Mary Jo Watson of Joliet, Illinois; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. James Audrain first married Vida ROARK, daughter of Arthur Marion ROARK (1887-1961) & Ruby J. SPRINGER (1892-1967). Vida died in 1959. They had the following children:
James Audrain second married Eloise BATES. Eloise died in 1994.
