On 28 Aug 1906 when Samuel was 24, he married Callie Lee THERRELL, daughter of Frank THERRELL (1854-) & Cordelia HILL (1852-), in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born in 1886. At the age of 84, Callie Lee died in 1970. Buried in 1970 in New Hope Cemetery, Yuma, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Cause of Death: Grover Gooch drowned in a sinkhole at the Yuma levee of the Big Sandy River.
