233. James Claude FESMIRE. Born in Apr 1895. At the age of 39, James Claude died in Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee in Jul 1934. Buried in Jul 1934 in Old Bethel Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in Huron, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1934. Obituary: J. C. Fesmire, 39, victim of a tragic error, when his son, mistaking him for a burglar, shot him through the abdomen, died Friday night at the Memorial Hospital where he had been under treatment for the past two weeks. The tragedy occurred when Mr. Fesmire returned home late in the evening and knocked on his door. The son asked who was there, and when Fesmire failed to answer, emptied a shot gun load through the door. Fesmire was rushed to Jackson for treatment as soon as the tragic mistake was learned but small hope of his recovery was held from the first. He was a Methodist and is survived by his widow and two sons, Louis and Oren Fesmire, and three daughters, Grapel, Cornelia and Betty Lou; two brothers, A. and W.B Fesmire, of Jackson, and a sister, Mrs. Ludie Hubbard of Lexington. Rev John E. Carnell conducted the funeral services at the Bethel Methodist church with interment in the cemetery. James Claude married Alice B. ?. Born in 1896. At the age of 27, Alice B. died in 1923. Buried in 1923 in Old Bethel Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee. They had the following children:
