502. Paul BARNETT. Born on 10 Jul 1926 in Cedar Grove, Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 77, Paul died in Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee on 4 Jul 2004. Buried on 6 Jul 2004 in New Liberty Church Cemetery, District 7, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Obituary: Mr. Paul Barnett, 77, of Huntingdon, Tennessee passed away Sunday, July 4, 2004 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at 2:00 PM at the Huntingdon First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the New Liberty Cemetery. Dr. Mickey Carpenter and Dr. Paul Mullikin will officiate the service. The family will receive friends in the Oak Wood Room of Chase Funeral Home after 6:00 PM on Monday and from 8:00 AM until time of departure for the church on Tuesday. Pallbearers who will serve are Richard Akins, Billy Webb, Joe Vickers, Jr., Nick Povendo, Phillip Weathers, and Ricky Crider. Honorary Pallbearers will be Roy McGinnis, Bob Keeton, Don Hawkins, Jerome Hancock, James Townsend, and Mike Hays. Mr. Barnett was born July 10, 1926 in Cedar Grove, Tennessee to the late Sterling Price Barnett and Mattie Iris (Wall) Barnett. He was a grocery store owner, a World War II Army Veteran, a half back for the Huntingdon Mustangs, a two time golden glove boxing champion, and a member of the Huntingdon First United Methodist Church. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sue (Hayes) Barnett. He is survived by three sons, Steve Barnett (wife Jennie), Philip Barnett (wife Sandy), both of Huntingdon, Johnny Barnett of Atlanta, Georgia; one sister, Kay Povendo of Dallas, Texas; and one brother, Waldon Barnett of Huntingdon. He also leaves five grandchildren, Matt Barnett, Kelly Barnett, Beth Barnett, Hunter Barnett, and David Hilliard.


Paul married Mary Sue HAYES. Born in 1926. At the age of 65, Mary Sue died in 1991. Buried in 1991 in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

They had the following children:
i. Steve. Resided in Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee in Jul 2004.

Steve married Jennie ?.
ii. Johnny. Resided in Atlanta, Georgia in Jul 2004.

Waldon married Maudine ?.
