On 19 Aug 1923 when William Joseph was 21, he married Effie Mae LEWELLING, daughter of John Nelson LEWELLING (1854-1914) & Sarah Lucendia GURLEY (1869-1935), in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born in 1907 in Carroll County, Tennessee. They had the following children:
300. Eron JOHNSON. Born on 4 May 1904 in Carroll County, Tennessee. Buried in Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1930. Eron married Alonzo Dewey KELLEY, son of William John KELLEY (1855-1911) & Josephine Virginia LEWIS (1856-1912). Born on 4 Aug 1898 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 68, Alonzo Dewey died on 14 Nov 1966. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1930. They had the following children:
301. Minerva Tabitha JOHNSON. Born on 17 May 1906 in Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in Gleason, Weakley County, Tennessee in May 2004. On 14 Oct 1923 when Minerva Tabitha was 17, she married Ira Washington LEWELLING, son of John Nelson LEWELLING (1854-1914) & Sarah Lucendia GURLEY (1869-1935), in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born in 1901. At the age of 69, Ira Washington died in 1970. Buried in 1970 in Carroll County Memorial Gardens, McKenzie, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in Gleason, Weakley County, Tennessee. They had the following children:
302. Dona Frances JOHNSON. Born on 13 Jan 1914 in Jumbo, Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 90, Dona Frances died on 9 May 2004. Buried in 1990 in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1930. Obituary: WHITEHAVEN: Dona Frances Palmer died May 9 at the age of 90. She was born January 13, 1914 in Carroll County to Benjamin and Susie Johnson. She had three brothers and five sisters. She had been a member of Whitehaven Baptist Church since 1956, where she taught Sunday School for many years and was active in Teenagers. Mrs. Palmer received a Master of Arts degree from Memphis State University in Memphis in 1958 and was a retired teacher. She began her teaching career in 1936 in rural Carroll County. Her career included teaching in one-room schools in Weakley and Carroll counties. Beginning in 1952, she taught two years each in Atwood and McKenzie. In 1956 she taught at Graves Road School and from that time other schools in Shelby County as well. At the time of her death she was still a member of the Tennessee Education Association. Mrs. Palmer enjoyed reading and the outdoors, especially her garden and flowers. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Frances Keller and her husband John Keller of Durango, Colorado and Charlotte S. Palmer of Nashville; her sister Minvera Lewelling of Gleason and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life was observed at Forest Hills South Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m., May 11. Interment was at Carroll County Memorial Gardens in McKenzie at 3:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Whitehaven Baptist Church Library, 4800 Elvis Presley Blvd., Memphis, TN 38116. In 1937 when Dona Frances was 22, she married Hildra PALMER. They were divorced in 1956. They had the following children:
303. Noah JOHNSON. Born on 31 Jul 1918 in Cedar Grove, Tennessee. Buried in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1930. On 31 Jul 1948 when Noah was 30, he married Martha Sue JENNINGS. Resided in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee. They had the following children:
