Family of Susanna Turner Gray DOUGLAS (8) & Lewis William MEALS

21. Lafayette Polk MEALS. Born on 4 Mar 1844 in Tennessee. At the age of 39, Lafayette Polk died in Tate County, Mississippi on 26 Jul 1883. Buried in Aug 1883 in Brooks Chapel Cemetery, Tate County, Mississippi.

Military: Lafayette Polk served in Company G, 3rd Tennessee Cavalry (Forrests).

On 3 Jul 1867 when Lafayette Polk was 23, he married M. E. LOGAN, in Desoto County, Mississippi.

They had the following children:
66 i. James Louis (1869-1932)
ii. William T.. Born on 30 Jan 1871. William T. died on 28 Sep 1871. Buried in Sep 1871 in Brooks Chapel Cemetery, Tate County, Mississippi.

iii. Samuel L.. Born on 19 Aug 1872. Samuel L. died on 9 Sep 1872. Buried in Sep 1872 in Brooks Chapel Cemetery, Tate County, Mississippi.

iv. Mamie S.. Born in 1879. At the age of 9, Mamie S. died in 1888. Buried in 1888 in Brooks Chapel Cemetery, Tate County, Mississippi.
