4. John Franklin DILL Senior. Born in Jan 1790 in Greenville District, South Carolina. At the age of 88, John Franklin died in Carroll County, Tennessee in 1879. Buried in 1879 in Stanford Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1870.

John Franklin married Catherine ROSS, daughter of James ROSS (1760-1843) & Catherine NOUITY (1766-1851). Born in 1796 in Greenville District, South Carolina. At the age of 84, Catherine died in Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1880. Buried in 1880 in Stanford Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1870.

They had the following children:
i. James D.. Born about 1822.

5. James M. DILL. Born in 1810 in Greeneville County, South Carolina. At the age of 60, James M. died in Carroll County, Tennessee in 1870.

In 1832 when James M. was 22, he married Frances Laviney SHEPHERD, in Greeneville County, South Carolina. Born in 1806 in Virginia.

They had the following children:
i. Stephen T.. Born in 1833 in Carroll County, Tennessee.
ii. Mary Frances. Born in 1835 in Carroll County, Tennessee.
iii. Martha E.. Born in 1837 in Carroll County, Tennessee.
iv. Samantha E.. Born in 1839 in Carroll County, Tennessee.
v. Lucinda C.. Born in 1841 in Carroll County, Tennessee.
vi. Nancy J.. Born in 1843 in Carroll County, Tennessee.
vii. Lavicy Adeline. Born in 1845 in Carroll County, Tennessee.
viii. Josephine. Born in 1848 in Carroll County, Tennessee.
ix. Lydia B.. Born in 1850 in Carroll County, Tennessee.
x. Millerd F.. Born in 1852 in Carroll County, Tennessee.
