Brooksie PENDERGRASS. Born on 23 Jan 1928 in Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 79, Brooksie died in Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee on 19 Jan 2008. Buried on 21 Jan 2008 in Clarksburg Cemetery, Clarksburg, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in Carroll County, Tennessee in 1999. Occupation: Homemaker and former employee of Publix Manufacturing. Religion: Clarksburg Independent Missionary Baptist Church.

Obituary: Mrs. Brooksie Pendergrass McDaniel, 79 of Clarksburg, Tennessee passed away, Saturday, January 19, 2008 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Joint funeral services for her and her brother, James Adron Pendergrass, will be conducted on Monday, January 21, 2008 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Clarksburg Cemetery. Bro. Philip Halter, Bro. Andrew Stokes, and Bro. Marshall Gurley will officiate the service. Mrs. McDaniel was born January 23, 1928 to the late Jessie L. Pendergrass and Florence E. (Douglas) Pendergrass. She was a member of the Clarksburg Missionary Baptist Church, a homemaker, a loving mother and wife, and gardener. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Nita Lovell (husband Dwayne) and her brother, who passed away on the same day, James Adron Pendergrass. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Tom McDaniel, one son, Jerry McDaniel (wife Fay) of Clarksburg, one daughter, Donna McDaniel of Smyrna, two grandsons, Jeremy McDaniel and Stan Laws, a granddaughter, Sue Ann McDaniel, a step grandson, Brad Kinney, two sisters, Willie Mae Scott (husband James), Joyce Altom (husband Tommy) both of Clarksburg, and one brother, Cecil A. Pendergrass (wife Eunice) of Cedar Grove.

On 9 Apr 1949 when Brooksie was 21, she married Thomas Earl McDANIEL, son of Edgar McDANIEL (1900-1963) & Gliner Bell MEGGS (1908-1964), in Corinth, Mississippi. Born on 10 Oct 1927 in Lexington, Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in Carroll County, Tennessee in 1999. Resided in First District, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1930. Occupation: Farmer and Carpenter. Religion: Clarksburg Independent Missionary Baptist Church. Alias/AKA: "Tom".

Ordained to served as a Deacon in the Clarksburg Missionary Baptist Church, Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Marriage Announcement: Miss Brooksie Pendergrass and Tom McDaniel of Parkers Crossroads were married in Corinth, Miss., Saturday. They were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. James Epperson. Miss Pendergrass is the attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Pendergrass and is employed by the Publix Shirt Corporation of Huntingdon. Mr. McDaniel is a farmer of Parkers Crossroads. The bride wore a grey suit with green accessories. We wish them much happiness. Miss Melba Jean Carnal, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Buford Carnal and Farris Bartholomew were married in Corinth, Miss., Sunday. They were accompanied by Miss Adell Scott and James Ross. We extend congratulations.



50th Anniversary Announcement: Tom and Brooksie McDaniel of Clarksburg will be celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Sunday, April 4, 1999 at the Clarksburg City Hall from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Tom and Brooksie, formerly Brooksie Pendergrass, were married in Corinth, Mississippi on April 9, 1949. They have two children, Jerry T. McDaniel of Stuttgart, Germany and Donna McDaniel-Burnine of Clarksburg.The occasion is being hosted by their daughter and two grandsons, Jeremy McDaniel and Stan Laws. Your presence and friendship on this special occasion are the only gifts requested and will be treasured by Mr. and Mrs. McDaniel and family. No formal invitations are being sent.

303. Cecil Audrain PENDERGRASS. Born on 5 Jul 1929 in Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in Cedar Grove, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1999. Cecil Audrain served in the United States Army in Korean during the Korean War.

On 5 Jul 1954 when Cecil Audrain was 25, he married Eunice Jean PATTON, in Corinth, Mississippi.

304. Nita Fay PENDERGRASS. Born on 4 Jun 1932 in Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 53, Nita Fay died in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee on 23 Dec 1985. Buried in 1985 in Clarksburg Cemetery, Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee.

On 11 Aug 1951 when Nita Fay was 19, she married Dwain Prince LOVELL, son of Cisco LOVELL (1889-1981) & Quillie Gray HAMPTON (1894-1970), in Corinth, Alcorn County, Mississippi. Born on 13 Aug 1930 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 69, Dwain Prince died in Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee on 14 Jun 2000. Buried in Jun 2000 in Clarksburg Cemetery, Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Dwain lived about four miles west of Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee, on Jackson-Clarksburg Road. He farmed and was a carpenter.

Obituary: Dwain Prince Lovell, 69, of Yuma, died Wednesday, June 14, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Services were held on Friday, June 16, at the Clarksburg Baptist Church. Bro. Pete Kirby officiated. Burial followed in the Clarksburg Cemetery. Pallbearers who served were Jeff Perry, Pete Smith, Tommy Altom, Terry Altom, Jim Thompson, and Larry Hilliard. Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Lovell, the son of the late Cisco Lovell and Gray Hampton Lovell, was born August 13, 1930, in Carroll County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nita Faye Lovell. He is survived by two sons, Kenneth and Russell Lovell, both of Yuma; and a sister, Velma Sherman of Benton Harbor, Michigan.

They had the following children:
i. Kenneth.

ii. Russell. Born on 2 Feb 1961 in Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee.


305. Willie May PENDERGRASS. Born on 8 Aug 1934 in Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1999.

On 19 Aug 1951 when Willie May was 17, she married James Priestly SCOTT, son of James Edgar SCOTT (1905-1988) & Allie Jane SIMPSON (1907-1992), in Corinth, Alcorn County, Mississippi. Born on 20 Feb 1929 in Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in Clarksburg, Carroll County, Tennessee in Aug 2004.

They had the following children:

306. Joyce Ann PENDERGRASS. Born on 14 Feb 1943 in Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1999.

On 24 Nov 1962 when Joyce Ann was 19, she married Harry Thomas ALTOM, son of James ALTOM (1920-1994) & Faustina PARKER (1925-2009), in Florence, Alabama.
