Family of William Joseph JOHNSON (195) & Effie Mae LEWELLING Obituary: CEDAR GROVE - Dr. Bennie L. Johnson, 78 of Cedar Grove, Tennessee died Thursday, August 9, 2007 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, August 12, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the New Liberty Cemetery. Bro. Tim Maness will officiate the service. The family will receive friends in the Cherrywood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 8:00 until time of services. Dr. Johnson was born July 25, 1929 in Cedar Grove, Tennessee to the late William Joseph and Effie (Lewelling) Johnson. He graduated Clarksburg High School in 1947. After finishing high school he pursued a degree in Veterinary Medicine. He served in the U.S. Army prior to completion of his degree from Auburn University in 1961. Dr. Johnson practiced in Trenton until his retirement in 1990. He was also member of the New Liberty Missionary Baptist Church in Cedar Grove. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Marcella Johnson, one brother, James Edwin Johnson and one grandson, Parker Bryce Johnson. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Melba (Bridges) Johnson of Cedar Grove; two sons, Thomas Johnson and wife, Cindy of Cedar Grove, David Johnson and wife, Christy of Lewisburg; one sister, Rita Johnson Williamson; and four grandchildren. Bennie Lara married Melba Joyce BRIDGES, daughter of Hobart BRIDGES (1909-1978) & Annie HOLLADAY (1914-1996). They had the following children:
291. Rita Mae JOHNSON. Born on 14 May 1933. Resided in Cedar Grove, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1999. On 14 Aug 1948 when Rita Mae was 15, she married John Daniel WILLIAMSON (281) , son of Homer WILLIAMSON (1902-1960) & Jessie Anna MEALS (190) (1903-). Born on 4 Mar 1925. Resided in Cedar Grove, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1999. They had the following children:
