278. Melvin Ellsworth GURLEY. Born on 23 Sep 1923. Resided in First District, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1930. Resided in Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in May 2003.

Melvin Ellsworth married Maxine SEGRAVES, daughter of Linn Everett SEGRAVES (1900-1968) & Mary Elizabeth ROBERTSON (1894-1983). Born on 23 Dec 1926 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 81, Maxine died in Clarksburg, Carroll County, Tennessee on 20 Mar 2008. Buried on 22 Mar 2008 in Clarksburg Cemetery, Clarksburg, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 14th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1930. Resided in Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in May 2003.

Obituary: Mrs. Maxine Gurley, 81 of Clarksburg, Tennessee passed away Thursday, March 20, 2008 at her home. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 1:00 P. M. in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Clarksburg Cemetery. Bro. Marshall Gurley will officiate the service.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Melvin Gurley, one son, Gregor (wife Brenda) Gurley of Cedar Grove, two sisters, Alma Bond, Ailene Pendergrass both of Huntingdon, and one brother, Billy (wife Mary) Seagraves of Bruceton. She also leaves four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by one son, Mark Gurley.

Mark Anthony. Born on 26 Jun 1962 in Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 43, Mark Anthony died in Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee on 14 Jan 2006. Buried on 16 Jan 2006 in Clarksburg Cemetery, Clarksburg, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in May 2003.

Obituary: CLARKSBURG: Mark Anthony Gurley, 43, died Saturday, January 14, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted Monday, January 16, at Clarksburg Missionary Baptist Church. Interment followed in the Clarksburg Cemetery. Chase Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Gurley was born June 26, 1962, in Carroll County. He was a self-employed carpenter and a school bus driver for the Clarksburg school system. He is survived by his father and mother, Melvin and Maxine Gurley of Yuma; one brother, Gregory (Brenda) Gurley of Cedar Grove; one Godchild, Tristan Umstead; three nieces; one nephew; three great-nieces; and three great-nephews.


279. Marie GURLEY. Born on 2 Aug 1924. Resided in First District, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1930.

On 6 Nov 1943 when Marie was 19, she married James SNIDER. Born on 22 Apr 1925. At the age of 58, James died on 14 Oct 1983.

They had the following children:
i. Loretta Diane. Born on 12 Jan 1945. At the age of 5, Loretta Diane died on 14 Nov 1950. Buried in Nov 1950 in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

280. Reverend Marshall Harold GURLEY. Born on 16 Nov 1928. Resided in First District, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1930. Religion: Independent Missionary Baptist Preacher. Alias/AKA: "Dode".

On 22 Jul 1944 when Marshall Harold was 15, he married Siddie Ellene KIRBY (300) , daughter of Charlie Bennett KIRBY (1898-1963) & Donnie DOUGLAS (200) (1900-), in Tennessee. Born on 4 Oct 1927 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 78, Siddie Ellene died in Yuma, Carroll County, Tennessee on 3 Oct 2006. Buried on 4 Oct 2006 in New Liberty Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1930.

Obituary: YUMA: Mrs. Siddie Ellene Gurley, 78, died Tuesday, October 3, at her home. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 4, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Stewart and Bro. Tim Maness officiating. Burial will follow in the New Liberty Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Cherrywood Room of Chase Funeral Home after 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 8:00 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday. Mrs. Gurley was born October 4, 1927 in Carroll County to the late Charlie B. Kirby and Donnie (Douglas) Kirby. She was a retired teletype operator for the Sears Corporation and a member of New Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by one sister, Glenda Kirby. Survivors include: her husband of 62 years, Marshall H. Gurley; one daughter, Sandra K. Castleberry of Oak Ridge; two sons, Nickey L. Gurley of Cordova and Thomas H. Gurley of Memphis; one sister, Willie Rene Blackwell of Williston, Tennessee; one brother, H. G. “Pete” Kirby of Yuma; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

They had the following children:
