184. Joseph Howard MEALS Senior. Born on 25 Jul 1900 in Tennessee. At the age of 85, Joseph Howard died on 8 Aug 1985. Buried in Aug 1985 in Parkers Crossroads Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1930. Alias/AKA: "Howard".

Obituary: Joseph Howard Meals, Sr. died at age 85 in Clarksburg, TN. Services were conducted at Dilday Funeral Home and burial was in Parker's Crossroads Cemetery. Mr. Meals was a retired mechanic for Carroll County Highway Department; died August 8, 1985. Survivors: One daughter, Mrs. Marie Cartwright of Memphis; one son, Joe Meals of Holladay; one sister, Mrs. Ivory Douglas of Lynchburg, VA; one brother, Clifford Meals of Clarksburg; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.


On 16 Nov 1922 when Joseph Howard was 22, he married Ludie PRITCHARD, daughter of James Homer PRITCHARD Senior (1864-1953) & Maude L. SMITH (1875-1933), in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born on 8 Oct 1899 in Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 77, Ludie died in Mar 1977. Buried in Mar 1977 in Parkers Crossroads Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1900. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1910. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1930. Occupation: Teacher, Clarksburg, School, Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee. Alias/AKA: "Miss Ludie".

Joseph Howard first married Lovie Aline BURGESS, daughter of Eff Roy BURGESS (1892-1977) & Rudy Belle HALE (1895-1980). Born on 15 Jun 1931 in Yuma, Carroll County, Tennessee.

On 8 Feb 1963 when Joseph Howard was 33, he second married Barbara Lynn PINSON, daughter of Lester Verner PINSON & Lillian GRAPLE. Born on 18 Jan 1935. At the age of 73, Barbara Lynn died in Windsor, Virginia on 23 Feb 2008. Buried in Feb 2008 in Clarksburg Cemetery, Clarksburg, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Obituary: WINDSOR, VIRGINIA: Barbara Lynn Meals, 73, formerly of Huntingdon, died Saturday, February 23. Graveside funeral services are Thursday, February 28, at 1 p.m. at Clarksburg Cemetery with Bro. Phillip Halter officiating. Mrs. Meals was born January 18, 1935 to the late Lester Verner and Lillian Graple Pinson. She was owner of the Purina Feed Mill and a member of the Clarksburg Missionary Baptist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Meals. Survivors include: one brother, Billy Pinson of Zuni, Virginia. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Dilday Funeral Home and on Thursday from 8 a.m. until time of services. Dilday Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.



185. Ivory Elizabeth MEALS. Born on 23 Jun 1903 in Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in Lynchburg, Virginia. Resided in Harrisonburg City, Rockingham County, Virginia in 1930.

Ivory Elizabeth married Carl H. DOUGLAS Senior, son of Granville Morrison DOUGLAS (1864-1931) & Martha Jane KEE (1869-1950). Born in 1899 in Tennessee. Resided in Lynchburg, Virginia. Resided in Harrisonburg City, Rockingham County, Virginia in 1930. Occupation: Insurance Salesman - 1930.

They had one child:
i. Carl H.. Born in 1928 in Virginia. Resided in Harrisonburg City, Rockingham County, Virginia in 1930.
