Obituary: FORREST CITY - Mrs. Cora Mai Miller, aged 86, of Forrest city, died Wednesday. Born at Gleason, Tenn., she was a retired employee of Forrest City Junior High School cafeteria and a Methodist. Survivors include a son, Paul Joe Allred of Louisiana; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Underwood of Memphis, Mrs. Dorthy Clayton of Little Rock and Mrs. Hattie Webb of Forrest City; three sisters, Mrs. Pauline Freeland of Star City and Mrs. Ruth McDaniel and Mrs. Bessie Marion, both of Tennessee; 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Buried in Dec 1966 in Blair Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in Clarksburg, District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1910. Occupation: Farmer and Carpenter. Religion: Mud Creek Primitive Baptist Church. John Bunyan Meals was a World War I veteran. He served with 101st Wagon Company, GMC in France. On 7 Feb 1920 when John Bunyan was 28, he married Sallie J. CARNAL, daughter of Moses Dewit CARNAL (1837-1912) & Martha Jane JOHNSON (1853-1910). Born on 8 Feb 1891. 121. Paul James MEALS Senior. Born on 16 Feb 1894 in Gleason, Weakley County, Tennessee. At the age of 76, Paul James died in Paris, Henry County, Tennessee on 24 Aug 1970. Resided in Clarksburg, District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1910. Buried in 1970 in Hillcrest Cemetery, Paris, Henry County, Tennessee. Occupation: Pharmicist in Paris, Henry County, Tennessee. Military: Served in World War I. Obituary: Longtime druggist Paul J. Meals, partner in Meals-Perkins Drug Store, died Monday at 12:30 p.m. at Henry County General Hospial. He was 76. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at McEvoy Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. A graduate of the Max Morris School of Pharmacy in Macon Georgia, Meals had been in the drug business for 51 years and had taught a course in pharmacy here some years ago. He had been in drug partnership with the late J.L. Bomar, and more recently with Hillary Perkins. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Born Feb. 16, 1894, in Weakley County, he was the son of the late Daniel J. and Elizah Nolan Meals. He married the former Ernest Polk in 1924, and she survives. Thier home is on Highway 70 at India Community. He is survived by three daughters. Mrs. Tom Wood and Wiley Adams, both of Paris, and Mrs. Bill Wilson of Memphis; a son, Paul Meals, Jr., of Long Meadow, Mass.; four sisters, Mrs. Bessie Marion of Paris, Mrs. J.J. Freeland of Buchanan, Mrs. Ruth McDaniel of Memphis and Mrs. Cora Miller of Forrest City, Ark., and 15 grandchildren. A brother, J.B. Meals of Clarksburg, died in 1967. On 23 Mar 1924 when Paul James was 30, he married Ernest Beverly POLK, daughter of J. T. POLK & Vesta DILL, in Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee. Born on 22 Mar 1905. At the age of 65, Ernest Beverly died on 21 Jan 1971. They had the following children:
122. Pauline Elizabeth MEALS. Born on 16 Feb 1894 in Gleason, Weakley County, Tennessee. At the age of 86, Pauline Elizabeth died in Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee on 22 Jul 1980. Buried in 1980 in Hillcrest Cemetery, Paris, Henry County, Tennessee. Resided in Clarksburg, District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1910. Religion: Blood River Church of Christ. Obituary: Mrs. Pauline Elizabeth Freeland, 86, 315 Walnut Street died early this morning at Parkway Hospital in Jackson. Funeral services will be conducted by Reverend Harry Flowers at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ridgeway Morticians. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Freeland, a native Weakley Countian, was born Feb. 16, 1894, a daughter of the late Daniel J. and Eliza Nolan Meals. She was married March 11, 1911 to John J. Freeland, Jr., who preceeded her in death Oct. 4, 1971. She was a member of the Blood River Church of Christ. Also preceding her in death were daughter, Marjorie, at age 2 1/2; a son, James Wesley Freeland of Star City, Arkansas in April of this year; three sisters and two brothers. She was a twin sister to the late Paris druggist Paul Meals, and they were the first recorded twins in Weakley County. She is survived by five grandchildren. On 11 Mar 1911 when Pauline Elizabeth was 17, she married John James FREELAND Junior, son of John J. FREELAND Senior & Nettie GAY. Born on 12 Jul 1895 in Henry County, Tennessee. At the age of 76, John James died in Buchanan, Tennessee on 4 Oct 1971. Buried in 1971 in Hillcrest Cemetery, Paris, Henry County, Tennessee. Obituary: Seventy-Six year old John James Freeland, Jr. of Buchanan, Route 1, died at 4 p.m. Monday at his home. Funeral services will be conducted by B.B. James at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Blood River Church of Christ with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery. The body is at Ridgeway Morticians. Born July 12, 1895, in Henry County, he was the son of the late Nettie Gay and John J. Freeeland, Sr. On March 11, 1911, he was married to the former Pauline Meals, who survives. He was a Mason and a member of Blood River Church of Christ. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Dr. James Wesley Freeland of Star City, Ark. and five grandchildren. A daughter died in infancy. She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Jones of Memphis, Mrs. Helen Lowe of Baton Rouge, LA, and Mrs. Nancy Mabry of Coldwater, Mississippi; three sons, Dan McDaniel of Memphis, Guy Christopher McDaniel of Baton Rouge and Dr. Bill McDaniel of Alvin, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Pauline Freeland of Paris; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. On 27 May 1915 when Ruth Dan was 19, she married Doctor Guy Lafayette McDANIEL, in Gadston, Alabama. Born on 17 Jul 1881 in Gaston, Alabama. At the age of 73, Guy Lafayette died in Henry, Henry County, Tennessee on 9 Jun 1955. Occupation: Physician. They had the following children:
