On 22 Dec 1866 when Daniel Meals was 22, he first married Minerva GRANT, daughter of Stephen GRANT (1805-1860) & Susan MASSEY (1812-), in Madison County, Tennessee. Born in Aug 1843 in Madison County, Tennessee. At the age of 54, Minerva died on 22 Oct 1897. Buried in Oct 1897 in Gaston Cemetery, Spring Creek, Madison County, Tennessee. Resided in District 12, Madison County, Tennessee in 1850. Resided in District 1, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1860. Resided in District 12, Madison County, Tennessee in 1880.
