Family of Mary CARRINGTON (14) & David COZART III

26. Ann Carolina COZART. Born on 11 May 1822 in Orange County, North Carolina. At the age of 78, Ann Carolina died in Wildersville, Henderson County, Tennessee on 19 Aug 1900. Buried in Aug 1900 in Mt. Ararat Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.

In 1848 when Ann Carolina was 25, she married Presley H. CARRINGTON (20) , son of Sihon CARRINGTON (8) (1788-1844) & Jememia COZART (1794-1862). Born on 1 Mar 1819 in North Carolina. At the age of 60, Presley H. died in Henderson County, Tennessee on 10 Mar 1879. Buried in Mar 1879 in Mt. Ararat Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in 8th District, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1850.

They had the following children:

36 iii. Mary Jemima (1853-1900)
iv. Christina Arbella. Born on 10 Apr 1855 in Henderson County, Tennessee. Christina Arbella died in Senath, Dunklin County, Missouri.

Christina Arbella married Abraham Nathan Barnhart WILSON.

37 v. Green Alford (1857-1907)
vi. Rianda. Born on 8 Dec 1859 in Henderson County, Tennessee.

Rianda married Green GIBSON.

vii. Frances. Born on 10 Jul 1862 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 82, Frances died in 1945.

27. Holly Ridley COZART. Born on 24 Oct 1839 in Pleasant Exchange, Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 58, Holly Ridley died in Wildersville, Henderson County, Tennessee in Jan 1898.

Holly Ridley married Simeon L. CARNAL. Born in 1836. At the age of 56, Simeon L. died in Dec 1892.

They had the following children:

Alvin married Myratte TATE. Born in 1874 in Wildersville, Henderson County, Tennessee.

28. Rufus Davis COZART. Born on 20 Jul 1842 in Pleasant Exchange, Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 81, Rufus Davis died in 1924. Buried in 1924 in Cozart Cemetery, Wildersville, Henderson County, Tennessee.

Rufus Davis first married Amanda Mae MILLER. Born in 1844. At the age of 33, Amanda Mae died in 1877. Buried in 1877 in Cozart Cemetery, Wildersville, Henderson County, Tennessee.

They had the following children:
i. Lula. Lula died in Aug 1928. Buried in Aug 1928 in Cozart Cemetery, Wildersville, Henderson County, Tennessee.

Lula married George DODD. Born in 1869. At the age of 61, George died in May 1930. Buried in May 1930 in Cozart Cemetery, Wildersville, Henderson County, Tennessee. Alias/AKA: Bud".

46 ii. Sam M. (1870-1960)
iii. Hub. Resided in Berrien Springs, Michigan in Jan 1948.


In 1878 when Rufus Davis was 35, he second married Cynthia BRAY, daughter of William Arnold BRAY. Born on 11 Oct 1852. At the age of 95, Cynthia died on 31 Dec 1947. Buried in Jan 1948 in Cazort Cemetery, Wildersville, Henderson County, Tennessee.

Obituary: Mrs. Cynthia Josephine (Bray) Cozart, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Bray, was born October 11, 1852, departed this life December 31, 1947, making her stay on earth 95 years, 2 months and 20 days. She was married to Rufus David Cozart at the age of 26 years. To this union nine children were born. Two died in infancy and one daughter, Mrs. Mintie Cole, preceded her in death in 1942. She leaves six children, five girls, Miss Maggie Cazort, with whom she made her home, Mrs. Mollie Gustafson, Ashland, Wisconsin, Mrs. Lucy Butler, Mrs. Ruthie Horn, Mrs. Nellie Azbill, all of Lexington; one son, Mack Cozart of Jackson; two stepson, Sam of Lexington, and Hub of Berrien Springs, Michigan. One stepdaughter, Mrs. Lula Dodd, is deceased. In early life she professed faith in Christ and united with Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church. She lived a Christian life until death. Aunt Josie, as she was called, will be missed by all. She bore her affliction with as much patience as one could. The funeral was conducted by Earl Owens with Smith Funeral Home in charge.

They had the following children:
i. Ruth Jane. Born on 15 Apr 1883. At the age of 89, Ruth Jane died in Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee on 27 Apr 1972. Buried in Apr 1972 in Lexington Cemetery, Lexington, Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in Lexington, Henderson County, Tennessee in Jan 1948.

Ruth Jane married James Albert HORN. Born on 22 Feb 1889 in Lexington, Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 76, James Albert died on 5 Jul 1965. Buried in Jul 1965 in Lexington Cemetery, Lexington, Henderson County, Tennessee.

ii. Nellie. Born on 5 Apr 1886. At the age of 93, Nellie died in Gibson, Gibson County, Tennessee on 6 Dec 1979. Resided in Lexington, Henderson County, Tennessee in Jan 1948.

On 6 Oct 1913 when Nellie was 27, she married Jessie Johnson AZBILL, son of Rayburn AZBILL (1840-1900) & Sarah Ann GARNER (1848-1915), in Henderson County, Tennessee. Born on 22 Aug 1887. At the age of 81, Jessie Johnson died in Apr 1969.

iii. Mintie. Born in 1893. At the age of 49, Mintie died in 1942. Buried in 1942 in Jones Cemetery, Parkers Crossroads, Henderson County, Tennessee.

Mintie married N.A. COLE.

iv. Maggie.

v. Mollie. Resided in Ashland, Wisconsin in Jan 1948.

vi. Lucy. Resided in Lexington, Henderson County, Tennessee in Jan 1948.

vii. Mack. Born in 1889. At the age of 71, Mack died in 1960. Buried in 1960 in Lexington Cemetery, Lexington, Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee in Jan 1948.

Mack married Lessie ?. Born in 1895. At the age of 74, Lessie died in 1969. Buried in 1969 in Lexington Cemetery, Lexington, Henderson County, Tennessee.
