On 23 Mar 1867 when I. Monroe was 35, he married Larcena E. PARKER, daughter of James C. PARKER (1811-1879) & Elizabeth B. CHAMBLISS (1809-1870), in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born on 18 Sep 1840 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 67, Larcena E. died in Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee on 10 Feb 1908. Buried in Feb 1908 in Parkers Crossroads Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1880. Obituary: Mrs. Larcena Carnal, aged 68 years, widow of the late Monroe Carnal, died at her home near Clarksburg Monday morning of this week and was buried Tuesday at Parker's Crossroads, this county. Mrs. Carnal was a Parker, a sister to late Mrs. Evelyn Pearson and a most excellent lady. They had the following children:
8. Moses Dewit CARNAL. Born on 3 Sep 1837 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 74, Moses Dewit died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 27 Mar 1912. Buried in Mar 1912 in Blair Cemetery, Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee. Moses Dewit served Company G, Second Tennessee Mounted Infantry, United States Army. Resided in 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1880. Occupation: General Merchandise. Occupation: School Teacher. Military: Company G, 2nd Tennessee Mounted Infantry, US. M. DeWitt Carnal, farmer, was born in Henderson County, Tenn., in 1837, and is the third in a family of six children born to Joshua and Sarah W. (Dunn) Carnal. The father was a native of North Carolina; born in 1808; he received a fair education, and followed the occupation of a farmer. In 1832 he removed to Henderson County, Tenn., and about 1844 came to Carroll County, where he purchased land in the Thirteenth District; he remained here until his death, which occurred in 1850. The mother was born the same year, and in the same State as her husband; she died in December, 1885. Our subject grew to manhood on the farm and received a good practical education; he taught several terms of school and in December, 1863, enlisted in Company G, Second Tennessee Mounted Infantry, Confederate Army. He was at Paducah and in several sharp skirmishes, but was principally engaged in guarding the Nashville & Chattanooga Railroad, between Huntingdon and Nashville. At the end of thirteen months' hard fighting and suffering, he returned home. In 1865 he began clerking in a mercantile house, where he remained two years; he then, in company with W. P. Smith, established the firm of Smith & Carnal, and engaged in the mercantile business. This firm continued until 1875, when they disposed of their stock, and in 1878 he and P. E. Parker, Jr., formed a partnership and continued the business in the building where Mr. Parker now is. In 1879 Mr. Carnal purchased the stock and engaged in the business on his own responsibility; in December, 1883, he sold his stock and since that time has been farming. He has several farms in Carroll County, considerable town property, and some land in Kansas. In December, 1875, he married Martha A. Johnson, daughter of A. J. Johnson, and to this union were born five children: William, Martha D., Fannie L., Lizzie P. and James E. Mrs. Carnal was born in Carroll County, about 1853. Mr. Carnal has been a Republican since the war, and is a member of the Masonic fraternity. Moses Dewit married Martha Jane JOHNSON, daughter of Andrew Jackson JOHNSON (1821-1876) & Mary Ann HOOD (1823-1909). Born on 24 Apr 1853 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 57, Martha Jane died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 15 Nov 1910. Buried in 1910 in Blair Cemetery, Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1880. They had the following children:
9. James Irvin CARNAL. Born in 1841 in Tennessee. At the age of 84, James Irvin died in 1925. Buried in 1925 in Jones Cemetery, Wildersville, Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1870. Resided in District 1, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1920. On 27 Jan 1870 when James Irvin was 29, he married Rachel Lucy MILAM, daughter of J. Wilham MILAM (1818-) & Tabitha ? (1824-), in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born in May 1852 in Tennessee. At the age of 87, Rachel Lucy died on 3 May 1939. Buried in 1939 in Jones Cemetery, Wildersville, Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1860. Resided in District 13, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1870. Resided in District 1, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1920. Obituary: Beloved Woman Dies at Wildersville: Mrs. Rachel Milam Carnal, daughter of William and Tabitha Milam, died May 3rd, 1939, aged 87 years. She was married in January 1870 to James I. Carnal, who preceded her to the grave 14 years ago. To this union were born five children, three dying in infancy. One daughter, Mrs. Josie Carnal Walker, died December 3, 1909, the other daughter, Mrs. W.F. Tuten (Willie), of Wildersville, survives; also four grandchildren, Dennis Walker of Huntingdon, Clyde Walker of Wildersville, Mrs. L.F. (Pattie) Stroupe of Grand Junction and Mrs. Hobart (Josie Lee) Childress of Santa Fe, Tennessee; and one brother, J.H. Milam of Fulton, Kentucky. Mrs. Carnal reared a niece, Mrs. Ida Milam Fryer, who made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Carnal and was loved and cared for as their daughter. She also leaves three grandchildren, Clyde, Jamie and Pattye and one great-granddaughter, Lannita Robbins. Mrs. Carnal moved to Wildersville about 30 years ago from Yuma and her home is known as the "Hotel". She kept the travelers and they came here from far and near to eat and sleep as she put the best on her table and furnished good beds. The Old Knights of the Grip who are living today will recall the good days and nights spent in Wildersville with Mr. and Mrs. Carnal. Mrs. Carnal obeyed the gospel at Yuma in 1906 under the preaching of C.M. Cleaves and remained a faithful member of the Church of Christ until her death. Funeral services were held in the Church of Christ and conducted by Elder J.B. Austin of Scotts Hill. The body was laid to rest under a profusion of beautiful flowers in the Jones Cemetery.
