1. James Wade BURTON. Born on 28 Jun 1804 in Joyce, Mechlenburg County, Virginia. At the age of 60, James Wade died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 24 Dec 1864. Buried in Dec 1864 in Mt. Comfort Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Cause of death: Murdered by bushwhackers on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1864.

James Wade married Elizabeth WALL, daughter of John WALL ( 1770- 1860) & Elizabeth ?, in Joyce, Mechlenburg County, Virginia. Born on 20 May 1802 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia. At the age of 69, Elizabeth died in Carroll County, Tennessee on 5 Jan 1872. Buried in Jan 1872 in Mt. Comfort Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1870.

Elizabeth Wall Burton was living with her son, Thomas Henry Burton, in the 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee, in 1870.

They had the following children:

ii. Nancy. Born in 1833 in Joyce, Mechlenburg, County, Virginia.
