Family of Fearington BURNETT (1) & Anzolett ROSSER

3. Esperan BURNETT. Born in 1838.

On 21 Dec 1865 when Esperan was 27, she married William S. FLAKE, son of Dudley L. FLAKE (1815-1863) & Cynthia Anne HOWARD (1822-1872), in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born on 6 Aug 1840 in Tennessee. At the age of 27, William S. died in Tennessee on 10 Sep 1867. Buried in 1867 in Flake Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee. Cause of death: Murdered in 1867 under mysterious circumstances.

William S. Flake joined Company "G", formerly Company "C", nicknamed "The Carroll Invincibles". It was organized on June 25, 1861 at McLemoresville, Carroll County, Tennessee; later became part of Company "G", 12th Consolidated. The unit became part of the 22nd Tennessee Infantry Regiment which was organized for Confederate Service on August 10, 1861 at Camp Trenton, Gibson County, Tennessee.


They had the following children:
8 i. Andrew L. (1866-1938)
9 ii. William Hyson (1868-1954)

4. Nancy J. BURNETT. Born in Jan 1848 in Tennessee.

On 31 Dec 1865 when Nancy J. was 17, she married Freeling Hyson DOUGLAS, son of Bryant F. DOUGLAS (1798-1867) & Abigail FULLER (1816-1896), in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born in 1846 in Henderson County, Tennessee.

Lived in the 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee, in 1880.

They had the following children:
10 i. Mary C. (1870-1936)
ii. Janna E.. Born in 1873. Alias/AKA: "Babe".
11 iii. Sidney Albert (1876-1917)
iv. Adam L.. Born in 1879. Alias/AKA: "Don".

Don was drug to death by a mule when he was about twelve years old at the Leland Taylor Farm. He got his foot hung in a stirrup and was drug to death. According to verbal family history provided by Dorothy Porter, he died in the arms of her grandmother, Winnie Kee Flake.

vii. UNNAMED. Born in 1885.
