Family of William Frank BOWMAN (5) & Louise BRADFIELD

6. Susan Elizabeth BOWMAN. Born on 6 Sep 1878 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 89, Susan Elizabeth died in Missouri on 4 Nov 1967. Occupation: Farm Laborer.

About 1897 when Susan Elizabeth was 18, she married James Jackson HAYS, son of John Crockett HAYS & Minerva RENFROE. Born on 16 Apr 1860 in Tennessee. At the age of 69, James Jackson died in Senath, Dunklin County, Missouri on 7 Feb 1930. Alias/AKA: "Jim Jack".

Jim Jack Hays was blind and it was said he was genetically predisposed to nerve damage in his eyes through his mother's line. He lost his eyesight in his early twenties and is remembered whittling and whistling. He also caned chair bottoms but the family relied heavily on money Susie earned as a farm worker. The family moved to Missouri before World War I where work was more plentiful.

i. Verdie M.. Born in 1898 in Henderson County, Tennessee. Verdie M. died in Henderson County, Tennessee in 1898. Buried in 1898 in Mt. Ararat Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.
ii. Perlie Ann. Born on 13 Jan 1899 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 7, Perlie Ann died in Henderson County, Tennessee on 14 Feb 1906. Buried in 1906 in Mt. Ararat Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.

Perline Ann Hays died in a house fire.

iv. Hobart. Born in 1903 in Henderson County, Tennessee.

Hobart Hays died from prostrate cancer.

Hobart married Edith WILKINS.
15 v. Minerva Elizabeth (1905-1987)
vi. Abigail. Born in 1906 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 9, Abigail died in Henderson County, Tennessee in Dec 1915. Buried in Dec 1915 in Mt. Ararat Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.
vii. Infant. Born in 1907 in Henderson County, Tennessee. Infant died in Henderson County, Tennessee in 1907. Buried in 1907 in Mt. Ararat Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.
viii. Johnny. Born on 24 Dec 1909 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 19, Johnny died in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee on 8 Mar 1929. Buried in Mar 1929 in McGrew Cemetery, Senath, Dunklin County, Missouri. Alias/AKA: "Johnny".

Cause of Death: Ruptured appendicts.

xi. Esco. Born in 1914 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 39, Esco died in 1953.

Esco married Dorothy BOLAN.

7. Jess E. BOWMAN. Born on 28 Dec 1879 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 81, Jess E. died in Senath, Dunklin County, Missouri on 22 Jun 1961. Buried in Jun 1961 in McGrew Cemetery, Dunklin County, Missouri. Occupation: Farmer.

Jess Bowman moved to Portageville, Missouri, in 1922.

On 16 Aug 1900 when Jess E. was 20, he first married Ella Jane JOHNSON, daughter of Andrew JOHNSON & Julia LOCKHART, in Decatur County, Tennessee. Born on 2 Jun 1875. At the age of 61, Ella Jane died on 23 Aug 1936. Buried in Aug 1936 in McGrew Cemetery, Dunklin County, Missouri.

Ella Jane Johnson died of heart disease.

Ella has always been described as kind, gentle and gracious. It has been reported she made the best tea cakes ever made. After she was married and had children, a tumor developed behind her right eye which caused the eye to swell and burst leaving her blind in that eye.

vii. Lorean. Born on 31 May 1918 in Henderson County, Tennessee. Lorean died in Henderson County, Tennessee on 28 Jun 1918. Buried in Jun 1918 in Mt. Ararat Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.

Lorean died from whooping cough.

Jess E. second married Iva CARNES.

8. Amanda BOWMAN. Born on 23 May 1883. At the age of 65, Amanda died in Henderson County, Tennessee on 10 Apr 1949. Buried in Parkers Crossroads Cemetery, Parkers Crossroads, Henderson County, Tennessee. Occupation: Homemaker.

Amanda Bowman Meggs provided midwife services to the community.

On 7 Oct 1902 when Amanda was 19, she married Reverend John Ervin MEGGS, son of James Isaac MEGGS (1849-1929) & Mary Ann KEEN (1853-1934), in Henderson County, Tennessee. Born on 26 Jul 1880 in Decatur County, Tennessee. At the age of 81, John Ervin died in Henderson County, Tennessee on 31 Jan 1962. Buried in Feb 1962 in Parkers Crossroads Cemetery, Parkers Crossroads, Henderson County, Tennessee. Occupation: Farmer. Religion: Pentecostal Preacher.

9. Elijah Louis BOWMAN. Born on 29 Jul 1885 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 63, Elijah Louis died in Senath, Missouri on 18 Nov 1948. Buried in Nov 1948 in McGrew Cemetery, Dunklin County, Missouri.

On 9 Feb 1906 when Elijah Louis was 20, he married Lizzie BROCK, in Darden, Henderson County, Tennessee. Born on 3 Jul 1890 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 39, Lizzie died on 31 Oct 1929. Buried in Nov 1929 in McGrew Cemetery, Dunklin County, Missouri.

12. Henry Thomas BOWMAN. Born on 27 Sep 1891 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 63, Henry Thomas died in Henderson County, Tennessee on 9 Apr 1955. Buried in Apr 1955 in Lexington Cemetery, Lexington, Henderson County, Tennessee. Cause of death: Cancer.

Military: Served as a Sergeant in Company E, 323 Infantry, during World War I

Tom Bowman worked on the NC & St. Louis Railroad.

On 17 Feb 1921 when Henry Thomas was 29, he first married Ina LILES, daughter of James A. LILES & Fredona RUSHING, in Decatur County, Tennessee. Born on 21 Jun 1908 in Decatur County, Tennessee. At the age of 18, Ina died in Decatur County, Tennessee on 13 Jan 1927. Buried in 1927 in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Decatur County, Tennessee.

Military: Private, 109th Infantry, 28th Division, US Army, World War II

Obituary: Services for Pvt. Lloyd Bowman were conducted at the grave at Mt. Tabor Cemetery near Parsons Wednesday afternoon. G. Tillman Stewart had charge of the services. Military honors were carried out by the National Guard, VFW and American Legion. Pvt. Bowman, 22, at the time of his death, was killed in action against the Nazis on December 18, 1944, in Luxembourg in the historic Battle of the Bulge. He entered service January 22, 1943. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.T. Bowman; two sisters, Donie and Tommie Sue, and one brother, Bobby Jack Bowman.

On 28 Jan 1928 when Henry Thomas was 36, he second married Liza HAYS, daughter of Zachary Taylor HAYS & Mary Bell FREEMAN, in Decatur County, Tennessee. Born in 1909 in Henderson County, Tennessee.

They had the following children:

13. Mary M. BOWMAN. Born on 15 Dec 1897 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 94, Mary M. died on 9 Dec 1992. Buried in Dec 1992 in Duke Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.

On 9 Aug 1930 when Mary M. was 32, she married George Martin CAGLE, son of William G. CAGLE & Martha Arabell HAYS, in Decatur County, Tennessee. Born on 27 May 1890. At the age of 85, George Martin died on 1 Dec 1975. Buried in Dec 1975 in Duke Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.

They had the following children:
i. Willie (Step Child of Husband). Born in 1923. At the age of 79, Willie died in Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee on 25 Aug 2002. Buried on 27 Aug 2002 in Jones Cemetery, Parkers Crossroads, Henderson County, Tennessee.

Obituary: Services for Mr. Willie Bowman were Tuesday, August 27 at Pafford Funeral Home. Burial was in Jones Cemetery. Mr. Bowman, age 79, died August 25 at Jackson General Hospital. He leaves two sisters; Earlene Powers and Pauline Woods of Lexington; one half brother, Odell Cagle of Milan. Pafford Funeral Home was in charge of the service.

Willie married Evie Mae MYRACLE, daughter of George MYRACLE (1887-1942) & Mellie McDANIEL (1891-1953). Born on 20 Mar 1920.
