9. Socrates BIRDWELL. Born around 1851 in Tennessee. Resided in 14th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1860. Resided in 14th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1880. Alias/AKA: "Cratus".

Socrates first married Victoria MONTGOMERY. Born on 14 Aug 1852. At the age of 42, Victoria died on 7 Jun 1895. Buried in Jun 1895 in New Hope Cemetery, Yuma, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 14th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1880.

They had the following children:

21 ii. Vinnie (1878-)
22 iii. Cavie (1880-)
iv. Infant. Born in 1881. Infant died in 1881.

23 v. Vider (1888-1976)
vi. Infant. Born in 1889. Infant died in 1889.

vii. Infant. Born in 1891. At the age of 1, Infant died in 1892.

viii. Gilva. Born in 1895. At the age of 32, Gilva died in 1927.

24 ix. Garfield (1907-)

Socrates second married Lena PARISH.

They had the following children:

iv. Rhoda Mae. Resided in Buena Vista, Carroll County, Tennessee in Dec 2003.

Rhoda Mae married Ray HENDRIX.

10. Mary E. BIRDWELL. Born around 1853 in Tennessee. Alias/AKA: "Betty".

On 3 Feb 1876 when Mary E. was 23, she married Claborn PARISH, son of Samuel PARISH (1828-1906) & Mary UMSTEAD (1830-1889). Born on 24 Aug 1849 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 66, Claborn died on 3 Dec 1915.

They had the following children:

11. John Priest BIRDWELL. Born in May 1860 in Tennessee. Resided in 14th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1880. Resided in 14th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1900.

John Priest married Dessie BREWER. Born in Apr 1867 in Tennessee. Resided in 14th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1930.

They had the following children:

12. James W. BIRDWELL. Born in 1863. At the age of 72, James W. died in 1935. Buried in 1935 in New Hope Cemetery, Yuma, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 14th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1880. Resided in 14th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1930. Alias/AKA: "Jim".

James W. married Mattie G. TODD, daughter of Felix H. TODD (1845-) & Josephine BREWER (1846-). Born in 1867. At the age of 68, Mattie G. died in 1935. Buried in 1935 in New Hope Cemetery, Yuma, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 14th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1930.

They had the following children:
i. Eva. Born on 21 May 1887. At the age of 82, Eva died on 29 Nov 1969. Buried in Nov 1969 in New Hope Cemetery, Yuma, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 14th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1930.

On 1 May 1921 when Eva was 33, she married Roland GOOCH, son of James L. GOOCH (1843-1915) & Elizabeth Frances TODD (1848-1933), in Carroll County, Tennessee. Born on 19 Sep 1876. At the age of 73, Roland died on 11 Aug 1950. Buried in Aug 1950 in New Hope Cemetery, Yuma, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 14th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1930.

Roland Gooch and Eva Birdwell had no children.

Cassie Birdwell died young; she was never married.


13. Collie Etta BIRDWELL. Born in 1866 in Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 14th District, Carroll County, Tennessee in 1880. Alias/AKA: "Cola".

Collie Etta married Marcus MORRIS.

They had the following children:

39 ii. Walter E. (1894-1991)
