Laverne married John M NOWELL. Born on 18 Jul 1931. At the age of 60, John M died on 12 Jun 1992. Buried in Jun 1992 in Hare Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.

John Nowell served as a deacon at Wildersville Baptist Church, Wildersville, Henderson County, Tennessee, for many years.

They had the following children:

358. Leslie ATKINSON Junior. Born on 28 Apr 1937. Alias/AKA: "Les".

Leslie married Shirley Dean MANESS, daughter of Lonzo MANESS (1905-1985) & Laudie SEGRAVES (1903-1970). Born in 1937. Alias/AKA: "Dean".

They had the following children:

489 ii. Susan Jean (1959-)
iii. Linda. Born on 11 Dec 1961.
