Obituary: Services for Mrs. Lola Virginia Petty, 74, will be held Sunday, June 16, 2002 at 3:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Lexington with burial to follow in Memory Garden. Mrs. Petty, a retired employee of Brown Shoe Company, died Friday, June 14, 2002 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. She is survived by one daughter, Krystal Griffin of Lexington; one son, Jim Petty of Chattanooga; two brothers F.L. Jowers and Carl Lee Jowers both of Lexington; one sister, Excelle Hopper of Lexington and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.S. Petty; her parents, Florence and Addie Sego Jowers; and two sisters, Mae Atkinson and Opal Hemby. 218. Mae JOWERS. Born on 16 May 1916. At the age of 83, Mae died in Lexington, Henderson County, Tennessee on 30 Nov 1999. Buried in Dec 1999 in Hare Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee. Obituary: Services for Mrs. Opal Mae Atkinson were Tuesday, November 30, at Wildersville Baptist Church. Burial was in Hare Cemetery with Reed's Chapel in charge. Mrs. Atkinson, who was 83, died Monday, November 28, at Lexington Methodist Hospital. She was a homemaker and the wife of L.O. Atkinson, Sr. She leaves two daughters, Imogene Jones of Prospect, Tn., and Laverne Crockett of Lexington; a son, Les Atkinson Jr., of Wildersville; her mother, Mrs. Addie Jowers of Lexington; two sisters, Virginia Petty and Excell Hopper, both of Lexington; two brothers, F.L. Jowers, Jr. and Carl L. Jowers, both of Lexington, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. On 2 May 1931 when Mae was 14, she married Leslie O. ATKINSON Senior, son of Henry Fletcher ATKINSON (1872-1926) & Corina HAMPTON (1883-1964). Born on 8 Nov 1912. At the age of 65, Leslie O. died on 3 Jun 1978. Buried in Jun 1978 in Hare Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee. Alias/AKA: 'Les". They had the following children:
