Coy Rex Webb entered service in March 1950 at age 16. After several weeks of pleading for permission to join the Army, his father, Jessie Ruel Webb finally agreed to let him join. Rex, somehow convinced the Army that he was born on 12 Feb 1930 instead of 1934. Upon arrival in Korea, his father decided to get him and notified Army officials of what had happened. Rex was pulled from the front lines and sent home with an honorable discharge. Rex later got a job in
Wisconsin. During a trip home, he was killed in an auto accident in White Rock, Illinois. Rex was in the passenger seat with his friend, Glenn Maness, driving.
