Family of Alvis A. AUTRY (37) & Lizzie ?

83. Amos AUTRY. Born on 2 Aug 1893 in Tennessee. At the age of 90, Amos died on 31 Oct 1983. Buried in Nov 1983 in Davis Chapel Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 8th District, Decatur County, Tennessee in 1920.

Amos married Lizzie ?. Born on 21 Oct 1905. At the age of 40, Lizzie died on 27 May 1946. Buried in May 1946 in Shiloh Church Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Obituary: Funeral services for Mrs. Lizzie Bell Autry who death occurred Monday were conducted at Shiloh Baptist Church by the Rev. Less Haggard of Darden. She was 40 years of age. Survivors include her husband, Amos A. Autry, four sons and four daughters. Burial was made in Shiloh Church Cemetery.

They had the following children:
i. Harvie R.. Born on 18 Jan 1923. At the age of 70, Harvie R. died on 20 Dec 1993. Buried in Dec 1993 in Davis Chapel Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Harvie R. married Julie Mae TAYLOR.

Roby married Mattie Lou ?. Born in 1939. At the age of 24, Mattie Lou died on 30 Apr 1963. Buried in May 1963 in Davis Chapel Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

On 6 Oct 1981 Dorthy Nell married James Edwin TODD, son of Joe Chalmer TODD Senior (1903-1937) & Panzy Newil BURCH (1907-1998). Born on 28 Feb 1924 in Wildersville, Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 76, James Edwin died in Clarksburg, Carroll County, Tennessee on 8 Aug 2000. Buried in Aug 2000 in Clarksburg Cemetery, Clarksburg, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in Cedar Grove, Carroll County, Tennessee in 2000. James Edwin retired from Internal Revenue Service. They were divorced.

James served in the Army during World War II. He received two purple hearts and six bronze medals. He was a retired employee of the Internal Revenue Service and was a deacon at the County Line Baptist Church. He was also a former deacon of the Clarksburg Baptist Church. For several years, he ran an income tax preparation service at Clarksburg, Carroll County, Tennessee. He lived at Jumbo, located on the Clarksburg-Jackson Road (about six miles west of Clarksburg).

Obituary: James E. Todd, 76, of Cedar Grove, died Tuesday, August 8, at his home after a lengthy illness of cancer. Services were held on Thursday, August 10, at the County Line Baptist Church. Rev. Randal Woods officiated. Burial followed in the Clarksburg Cemetery with military honors. Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Todd, the son of the late Chalmer and Pansy Newbill Birch Todd, was born February 28, 1924, in Wildersville. He served in the Army during World War II, where he received two purple hearts and six bronze medals. He was a retired employee of the Internal Revenue Service and was a deacon at County Line Baptist Church. He is survived by two daughters, Linda Brawner and Donna Linton, both of Memphis; a son, James Rodney Todd of Cedar Grove; a step-daughter, Tamara Bush of Jackson; a stepson, Thomas Cook of Memphis; a sister, Martha Gooch of Yuma; two brothers, Joe Todd of Jackson and Landon Taylor of East Tennessee; six grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.

No children were produced from this marriage.


84. Clyde AUTRY. Born on 3 May 1904. At the age of 64, Clyde died in Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee on 9 Aug 1968. Buried in Aug 1968 in Davis Chapel Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Resided in 8th District, Decatur County, Tennessee in 1920.

On 7 Feb 1926 when Clyde was 21, he married Hazel Dale CARY, daughter of William Ervin CARY Junior (1874-1965) & Salina Josephine AZBILL (1880-1963). Born on 20 Mar 1909. At the age of 73, Hazel Dale died in Huntingdon, Carroll County, Tennessee on 9 Jul 1982. Buried in Jul 1982 in Davis Chapel Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

They had the following children:
i. Bernice Lee. Born on 5 Feb 1927. At the age of 54, Bernice Lee died on 21 Jun 1981. Buried in Jun 1981 in Davis Chapel Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

iii. Marzine. Born on 11 Mar 1931. At the age of 4, Marzine died in Jan 1936. Buried in Jan 1936 in Shiloh Church Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

vii. Alvis Ray. Born on 27 Feb 1942. At the age of 51, Alvis Ray died on 15 Aug 1993. Buried in Aug 1993 in Davis Chapel Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee.

Alvis Ray married Martha Jean WOOD, daughter of James Bryan WOOD (1917-1976) & Patricia GOOCH (1920-). Born on 22 Feb 1939.

85. Aus A. AUTRY. Born on 14 Oct 1908. At the age of 79, Aus A. died on 24 Mar 1988. Buried in Mar 1988 in Haywood County Memorial Gardens, Brownsville, Haywood County, Tennessee. Resided in 8th District, Decatur County, Tennessee in 1920.

Aus A. first married Ida Mae HAMPTON. Born in 1908. At the age of 26, Ida Mae died in Steele, Missouri in 1934.

They had the following children:

iii. Waldon. Born on 18 Feb 1932. At the age of 40, Waldon died on 28 Nov 1972.


Aus A. second married Louise BARDEN, daughter of Walter Leo BARDEN & Lillie May HENDRIX.
