3. James ALTOM. Born around 1810. At the age of 32, James died around 1842. Buried around 1842 in Old Altom Cemetery, Natchez Trace, Henderson County, Tennessee.

James married Rebecca HENSLEY. Born in 1819. At the age of 86, Rebecca died in Henderson County, Tennessee in 1905. Buried in 1905 in Lewis/Altom Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.

They had the following children:

ii. Phebe Adiline. Born in 1837.

Phebe Adiline married Andrew Jackson WOOLEY, son of Hiram WOOLEY & Martha ?, in Henderson County, Tennessee. Born in 1834.

10 iii. David Crockett (1839-1902)

4. Nancy Jane ALTOM. Born on 1 Jan 1818 in Lawrence County, Tennessee. At the age of 74, Nancy Jane died in Henderson County, Tennessee on 7 Feb 1892. Buried in Feb 1892 in Beech River Cemetery, Lexington, Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in District 15, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1870.

Nancy Jane married Henry Sanders WOOD. Born on 13 Feb 1824. At the age of 79, Henry Sanders died in Henderson County, Tennessee on 29 Dec 1903. Buried in Dec 1903 in Beech River Cemetery, Lexington, Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in District 15, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1870.

This day at 10 o'clock a.m. and noted in file book no.4, page 23. Witness my hand at office this 8th day of February 1873, Jas. A. Henry, register.

We, Spencer Altom & wife Christian Altom have this day bargained and sold and do hereby transfer and convey unto Henry S. Wood and his heirs forever, for the consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars to us an have paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, a center tract or parcel of land lying and being in the county of Henderson and state of Tennessee and bounded as follows to wit: Range and Section 10.


Beginning on a stake 20 poles North of Sheppard Landnums SW Corner of reserve entry no. 25,35 runs west 160 poles to a stake, white and red oak pointers, then north 200 poles to a black oak, hickory, & sweet gum pointers. Then east 160 poles to a stake. Then south 200 poles to the beginning: To have and to hold the same to the said Henry S. Wood and his heirs and assigns forever, we do covenant with the said Henry S. Wood that we are lawfully seized of said land and have a good right to convey it and that the same is unincumbered we do further bind ourselves, our heirs and representatives to warrant and forever defend the title to said land to the said Henry S. Woods and his heirs against the lawful claims of all persons whatever.


Given under our hand and seals and revenue stamps.

Christian Altom, wife of Spencer Altom having personally appeared before me and having by virtue of the authority in me vested, been examined privately and apart from her said husband and she having acknowledged the due execution of the annexed deed by her freely voluntarily and understandably without compulsion or constraint by her said husband and for the purposes therein expressed the same is therefore certified. ix. Mancil Samuel. Born in 1860 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 60, Mancil Samuel died in 1920. Resided in District 15, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1870.

William married Ann ?. Born in 1801 in Tennessee. Resided in District 15, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1870.

6. Jacob ALTOM. Born in 1825 in Tennessee. At the age of 88, Jacob died in 1913. Resided in District 15, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1870.

Jacob married Amarillus JOWERS. Born in 1832 in Tennessee. Resided in District 15, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1870.

They had the following children:
i. Sarah A.. Born in 1853 in Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in District 15, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1870.

ii. William. Born in 1856 in Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in District 15, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1870.

iii. Nancy E.. Born in 1858 in Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in District 15, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1870.

iv. Mary D.. Born in 1861 in Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in District 15, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1870.

v. Eliza A.. Born in 1863 in Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in District 15, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1870.

vi. George W.. Born in 1866 in Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in District 15, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1870.


7. Rachel Ann ALTOM. Born on 3 Feb 1833 in Tennessee. At the age of 74, Rachel Ann died on 10 May 1907. Buried in May 1907 in Hare Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in District 15, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1860. Resided in District 15, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1870.

On 27 Feb 1855 when Rachel Ann was 22, she married Daniel Willis SMALL, son of Andrew Jackson SMALL Senior (1798-1850) & Mary SEAGO (1805-). Born on 4 Aug 1833 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 78, Daniel Willis died in Henderson County, Tennessee on 31 Dec 1911. Buried in Dec 1911 in Hare Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in District 15, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1860. Resided in District 15, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1870. Resided in District 3, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1910.

They had the following children:

v. Daniel S.. Born on 2 Oct 1862 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 71, Daniel S. died in Henderson County, Tennessee on 16 Apr 1934. Buried in Apr 1934 in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee. Resided in District 3, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1910. Alias/AKA: "Dan".

Daniel S. married Tine KEEN.

19 vi. Rebecca Jane (1865-1904)
vii. Andrew Jackson. Born on 25 Jun 1868 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 55, Andrew Jackson died on 28 Feb 1924. Buried in Feb 1924 in Phoenix, Arizona.

On 17 Jan 1889 when Andrew Jackson was 20, he married Annie Wilson GRIGGS.

8. John Andrew Jackson ALTOM. Born around 1820 in North Carolina. At the age of 75, John Andrew Jackson died in 1895. Resided in District 15, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1870.

In 1845 when John Andrew Jackson was 25, he married Mary Ann DAVIS, daughter of Asa DAVIS (10 Nov 1792-15 Oct 1875) & Anna WOOD (5 Jan 1800-10 Feb 1863). Born in 1828 in Roane County, Tennessee. At the age of 54, Mary Ann died in Henderson County, Tennessee in 1882. Resided in District 15, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1870.

They had the following children:
